So is that the board you were talking about? The lan party? And another question, is my money being well spent on a pair of 512 Curcial Ballistix w/ this board? I know so little about memory.

No.

Get yourself some UTT based RAM. If your a Gambler... Go for Twinmos or other generic UTT... If not a gambler, go for the PCX Gold VX PC3200 or PC4000.

THe DFI can put out plenty of voltage to run this ram at 250+ HTT speeds at 2-2-2 Timings.

How can you tell if a stick of RAM is UTT?

Great guide Impaqt. I have been having trouble understanding HT multi and HTT and think I got it now. I have some questions regarding your repeated recommendations for using VX or UTT ram.

1) As I understand it, this stuff requires ALOT more voltage to run than TCCD. Will it run tighter timings at the higher fsb speeds than TCCD?

2) Is using an OCZ booster with this stuff a viable option to support the higher voltages? If so, how do you connect it to a 24 pin PSU connector on an NF4 mainboard? 24 pin PSU's come with a 24 to 20 pin reducer so I can use that to connect between the PSU and the OCZ booster. Does anyone make a 20 pin to 24 pin expander or when you buy the booster kit, does it come with one?

Thx alot.

UTT Ram has been documented to run in excess of DDR500 with 2-2-2 TImings I have a pair that run 262, I've seen as high as 270.... So yes, it runs much tighter than TCCD.

as for 2, I think your a bit confused on how the Booster woorks. It simply Plugs into a free Ram slot, and is powered by its own 4 pn molex. THe 20/24pin plugs into the motherboard sepparately... Ya just have to make sure its Compatable with your Motherboard first!

As for my "Repeated Recomendations" I think you should notice that I do NOT recommend UTT without warning or caution. UTT and High Voltages are NOT for everyone. For more COnservative overclockers, PDP XBL and PQI Turbo and GSkill LE do a awesome Job.

quick question:
My LDT is 3x200, making it 600, which is max for my board (Leadtek K8N skt754). Should I:
a) leave the multiplier at 3x and push the HTT over 200?
OR
b) lower the multiplier to 2x and then raie the HTT?

Not too familiar with that board... I would say give it a go up to about 250 at 3x and only lower if you get instability.

Thanks. Here is some info:
http://www.leadtek.com/motherboard/winfast_k8n_1.html

Cost me $385 HKD (About $60AU. or $47USD) quite decent for the price.

NForce3-150 chipset......... hmmmm.... Yeah, I'd say it cant hurt too much to leave it at 3x and see how far you can go with it..... If you get unstable srop it down to 2x.

Hijack? Seems like a legitimate overclocking question to me..........

and it directly relates to my guide since I did not include any specifications for the older Nforce3-150 chipsets.......

No, you're right. If everybody posts his OCing problems in our threads we might have a problem.
