Core Duo/Quad Core Mobo - what is best choice for overclocking?
The intention is to purchase a Core Duo mobo that is Quad Core ready where I could upgrade when games start to utilise these extra cores. I am an overclocking freak (aren't we all here ) so I will be pushing the limit of my system to *almost* the brink of electronic failure. Stability is utmost priority and I will certainly will not trade this with better overclocking potential. What are your suggestions? |

If you want stability, the Intel D975XBX2 is one of the best motherboards out there. The data on the new P5K Deluxe is encouraging. The EVGA 680i SLI is also a nice choice, but it's not the easiest thing in the world to tune. NVIDIA 680i SLI boards are all very similar BIOS wise and they have quite a few tuning options. I'd definitely say that they are not for the overclocking novice, but if you are going to use SLI at some point, they are your best option.
If not, they still overclock great, but I prefer to stick with Intel chipsets for Intel processors. |
