Her Macbook has never even been ""reformatted"" or needed an antivirus or any of that stuff we have to do with our PC's. Buy a Macbook and it will be good for twice as long as a PC, and the Macbook will require little to no attention for reliability. Questioning this is ignorant.

Quality will cost money, no doubt about it.
Yes because Macs never get viruses or have end user errors.

EDIT: Ok I do want to make the real point of Mac using the same hardware as PCs (prices are their choices) and do want to give some credit to the user of the laptop considering a large amount of laptops I have worked on have suffered horrible fates from both genders.

I think the point is Apple users are perceived as willing to spend more money on quality so they are shown higher rated hotels first, which of course cost more than your motel 8's. Me I'll take the cheaper room and an android phone.

I like how you take a single laptop your sister owned as an example of all pc's in existance. Like getting bit by a coyote and saying all dogs are vicious evil animals.

I own an iBook that has been around even longer than her MacBook.

Ya know, on several occasions she spilled drinks on that MacBook. One time she brought it over and all I did was pull the battery out until it dried. Haha it still works to this day. Yea, the memory I replaced had dry water/milk marks on it where it puddled. She got an upgrade, but idk how that MacBook has survived a user so careless... for such a long time.

I could tell you a similar story about my brother's girlfriend and her pc laptop and the abuse it gets, yet it keeps on ticking... a lot of it is just luck that the machine hasn't given up, my brother on the other hand is a multi award winning graphics designer (Movie, TV & Print) based in London and has had countless trips to the Apple store for repairs to his work desktop Mac, work MacBook and personal MacBook. His personal desktop Mac has been ok to date though.

Just saying, on 3 Macbooks from people I know (two plastic ones, one MBP), not one had a working "SuperDrive" after 1-2 year of use. The MBP was struck with the whole 8400mGT ordeal after 2 years and she had to get the board fixed on the extended warranty (good thing she bought it; board is $800...). Another friend bought an entry-level iMac (21"? the first Intel ones anyway) and the so-called SuperDrive couldn't even burn DVDs. And she paid WAY more than a desktop PC for a laptop CPU, a GMA950, a horrible screen, a noisy fan, and a DVD-rom.

On the other side I have met a few Dells and an old HP which had more than a few soda cans spilled on their keyboards, and they all work.

Exactly my point, it's almost luck of the draw ... "technology is like a box o' chocolates, you never know whatcha gunna get!" in terms of reliability anyway, some people have great experiences others don't.

heh when i built my first self paid rig back in the day i bought an msi 6600gt reason i bought it was because they had a nice flashy heat sink that covered the ram as well. 6 months later the ol lady was playing playboy the mansion and the whole pc locked up. turns out the fan warped got stuf and the gpu blew out. i swore i would never buy an msi product again.

then my buddy had a 3870 that was msi his loop leaked all over it, he let it dry and it still worked later he gave me the card and i did the same thing by accident barb leaked and the F**Ker still worked and oced like a monster. it wasn't till the third guy got it that it finally blew.
