Apple gets patent for TV and 5D tech
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted the company maker a patent today for a way to connect humans to computers using sensors, touch screens, and virtual reality gloves. Patently Apple noticed it first today, calling it a "single, wild, and crazy patent," with "the widest range of applications I've ever seen." The patent outlines advanced 5D technology, interactive gaming (think Kinect or Wii), video conferencing, and the ability to recognize a particular signature, say someone's palm, for starting a car or sending signals to another kind of device. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-57...v-and-5d-tech/ |

So wait, apple are patenting "palm scanners"? Isnt that already patented along with retinal scanners and the like? Pretty much everything mentioned is already patented in some form or another. How the hell did apple manage this one? I call shenanigans.

More accurately, this is a patent for detecting minor distortions in a large surface area.

I'm surprised someone hasn't got a patent on a keyboard yet. "Method to interface with computers using your fingers." Or, has Apple got that one, too!
