Athlon 64 Review up at Anandtech (intel owned again)

i should note that i mainly concentrated on the gaming performance when reading the article as that is all that really matters to me

an Athlon 64 clocked at 1.8 Ghz beat a P4 clocked at 3.0 Ghz

thats a CPU running 1.2 Ghz slower and doing better

these suckers are really efficient and are going to make great gaming machines

i wonder how they fold?

i hope this article hasnt been posted before

i dont get it Anandtech showed it doing real good against the p4 then toms hardware does an article and the last link says this

Summary: The P4 3.2 EE wins 32 times, the Athlon 64 FX-51 15 times - an uncertain 64-bit future for AMD

WTF tom how much do you get paid from intel?

EDIT oh never mind tom brought in an intel 3.2 3.4 and 3.6 to compete against a 1.8 and claimed intel the victor

wow it took a 3.2 to beat a 1.8 man intel owns...

we all know tom sucks...

anyways, P4's will still win overall in folding, and have the uppper hand in editing, some workstation apps, etc..

Hammer gained an edge over intel in effective memory bandwidth by reducing latencies, and SSE2 making zipping, and unzipping A LOT faster. P4s used t owin there, now Hammer takes the lead.

Hammer = games and 64-bit stuff, some server stuff, and increased workstation capabilities

P4 = performance on workstation apps, folding, a few games, and media manipulation.
