That's the vanilla version with the MX Blue (loud) keys. He's looking at the Stealth version which uses the much quieter Browns.

Yeah I know - was just putting that up there for people wanting the blues.

MXBrowns are always a bit more in price - I'd like to try one out of curiosity - especially if they feel like blues without the sound.

the more i use my keyboard, the more I'm thinking I should've gone with reds. I got browns and honestly don't feel any stiffer than my rubber dome keyboard, and don't give quite as much feedback as I was expecting. reds should be what i'm looking for hopefully because blacks seem a bit excessive from what i've read.

I definitely do want the quieter version, but I'd also love to just spend $60 and get free shipping as well. I'm not so worried about the noise that I'd fork over almost $40 extra, especially considering that I'd like to buy a new mattress set AND an Ultrasharp in the next month or so.

The MX Blacks are killing my left hand w/ FPS. I might have to switch up to something lighter.

If anyone knows of another mechanical keyboard which is not long (going right of "WAXD") chime in!

Something like this is great, even w/ out num.pad would be better.

I'd love something that looked like that but with the blue or brown switches. I've been thinking about this more and more, the biggest thing that's turning me off from the Razer is how they're so intent on making a keyboard look "badass." The Das Keyboard looks OK but it's a bit pricier and the font on the keys is still unnecessary. But, on the other hand, the Razer is the only one (that I've seen, at least) with volume/media control function keys, and that's pretty important to me as well.

Who knew keyboard shopping could be this complicated?

ducky is minimalist standard layout, and has nearly ever switch type. reds or clears would probably be the step down, or browns if you want it to be quiet. they have a backlit version too, the ducky shine. don't let the name fool you, they're good keyboards.

i've heard good things about das keyboard too. they're also small standard layout mechanical keyboards. their reviews haven't been quite as high as the ducky brand, but still good overall.

Where do you even get the Ducky Shine? As far as I can tell they don't have a website and aren't sold at any of the major reputable retailers.

E: Anyone know anything about Adesso keyboards? Blue switches, function keys, simple design, and under $100. Pretty much everything I'm looking for.

I've had a Filco with Cherry Brown (I think) for quite a few years, before they started taking off with the more mainstream suppliers here. I wouldn't trade it for anything, in fact I liked it so much I bought another one for my office keyboard as well. Nothing fancy, just a regular keyboard with mechanicals.

I would pay quite a bit more too, if required, to get away from those rubber dome switches.

@eightball, ya, that's why I pulled the trigger on the one I linked. Quite the perfect size for gaming.

You're right it would be sweet if they made them w/ different keys.

Makes sense it's difficult to find the perfect one. It's quite personal.

@§k¥¥ |{£øúÐz, ya ducky is cool but I can't live with the stupid arrow keys on the right.

I mean, who the hell uses those anyway? I need to stop hitting my keyboard w/ the mouse!

Thinking about it a little more, I fell off my bike (quite hard) onto my left hand on the way back

from the shop w/ that keyboard. Perhaps when my hand fully heals it wont hurt so much w/ the MX blacks.

Keeping my fingers crossed, and will report back.

Looks like Adesso has some stuff which isn't so wide. Wonder about those keys....

It sucks that you say that, because this SteelSeries one is perfect in every way except that it uses black switches: http://shop.steelseries.com/us/keybo...ries-6gv2.html

Well that's promising. The hilarious thing now is that I only wanted a new keyboard before because I thought it'd be better for gaming, but suddenly the keys on my current keyboard have started sticking, so I actually need to get a new one fairly soon. Keyboards: the most difficult decision you'll ever make. At least my mouse owns.

lol do you only use your computer for gaming? I would die without the arrow keys.

especially when I do programming... or typing for that matter, I need the arrow keys to move between lines, moving the cursor around (mouse takes too long, keyboard is much faster, especially when utilizing tab and shift-tab with left hand, and ctr-a shift-delete to cut something, move to different field with left hand tabbing, then shift-insert to paste. i type and code a billion lines a second and absolutely have to have the arrow keys lol. (so basically, not only do i need the arrow keys, but i HAVE to have the 3x2 set of insert, home, pageup, delete, end, and page down keys too)

if i only did gaming, i would be ok with not having them but i do more than gaming with the pc so it has to have the arrow keys.

ya, I like to try and stay ergonomic while gaming, meaning both forearms straight ahead.

Now due to my self induced constraints, my mouse is hitting the right side of regular a size keyboard.

Only option I can see now is looking for a separate gaming only keyboard. Life is tough! lol

Regular keyboard is wireless so I just need to plug the "gaming keyboard" in when I want some FPS action.
