Need For Speed Underground stutter...

Well I got my 9800XT and this was one of the first games I installed... to my surprise... the game doesn't run that hot. Well I seem to have the same problem as I did with my GF3, where it would speed up in certain areas and then slow down and back and forth. This makes it seem like the game is stuttering... its very annoying. I doubt that I do not have the hardware to play this game... my specs are in my sig. Anyone know what's up? Any fixes? I'm using omega latest drivers and everything else is updated, so is the game. Latest patch.

Yeah that can also affect it. However, if you install the omega drivers, it automatically fixes that problem with a program. Keeps default at 75 instead of 60.

My former rig was an Athlon XP 2400+, 512MB ram, Radeon 9500pro and i could run full details and high resolution totally smooth, i verymuch doubt it's your rig.

Yea my thoughts exactly... it can't be my rig. Far Cry runs better than it... come on now. That's not normal. I'm using the newer omega drives and they don't have the refresh fix... but I am using refresh force as a fix. Does FSAA work with the game? That way maybe I could turn down the resolution to get a higher refresh rate...

I have no idea what it could be...but maybe I can shed some light on your problem. All I have read on this thread are suggestions about your video card being the cause of the stutter. It could be a problem with the game...bumping your CPU to 100% and massively overloading your system. Could be a sound compatibility problem that induces stutters at certain sound frequencies.

I would do a few things that maybe you haven't tried yet:
Reinstall/upgrade all your drivers. -All- your drivers.
Reinstall the game and update to the latest patch. Backup your saved game.
Read the changelogs and FAQs at ATI's site, the developers site, etc. and look for issues with this game and one of your pieces of hardware.

i had the same probelm on N4SU too, i'd put everything on high but without the motion blur and light trails. (and all my background tasks off)
its kind of lag in some area, even though i got 2800xp and 1 gig crucial of ram.
i think its might be my graphic card (xfx geforce 5200 256mb)
but gonna upgrade the radeon atlantic 9800 pro, i hope the game gonna run smooth!!!!
