Unhappy HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Do The Ram Timings Make That Much Diff With Games?

3200 + amd barton
1024 corsair value select ram(pc 3200)2x512
a400 tdh 128mb
ga7n400pro2(latest bios)
550 w qtec psu
80g maxtor 7200 2mb cache
xp sp2 all latest drivers for everything

my ram is 2.5 3 3 7 corsair vs 400mhz would changing to say a more exspensive ram with 2 2 2 5 timings really make that much difference in say driving games .as even with my new graphics card im getting slight stuttering with games like toca r/d 2 and nfs underground

Tighter timings could help with the stuttering?

What game in particular do you get the stutters?

What GFX card do you have, and what options do you have enabled?

You can try turning off Anti Aliasing and Anisotropic filtering (if they are not disabled) and see if that will improve the game.

Do you have other programs running in the background when you have the game going? Do you run virus scans regularly?

Try setting windows in Performance mode.

Just want to try to rule out other things before you go out and spend your hard earned cash on more memory.

Also, test your memory overnight with memtest86 test 5 ( memtest86.com ) to run the test you need a floppy disk, download the program http://www.memtest86.com/memt31a.zip and run it. it will ask to insert a blank floppy, do it. After the file has copied, you know have a self booting Memtest86 disk. All you have to do is insert it in the FDD drive when the system boots, and make sure that the system boot order has FDD drive before the HDD.

Once the test loads, press C, 2, 5, 5, enter, enter (dont press the commas or spaces).

If you have errors on the memory, then that would explain the stuttering immediately. If no errors, then it may be elsewhere or in the timings.
