Intel Not Looking Good for Next 2 Years

Here's a little something interesting about Intel's outlook over the next couple years. Seems things are not looking too good, if that's any surprise.

See the two links below to read more. Start buying that AMD stock!!!

interesting read to say the least.

I hope AMD doesn't squander the time and lead it has by sitting on its ***.

Intel will come up with a counter.

I like this competition. It's a shame there isn't a 3rd viable competitor to heat things up more. At the end of the day unless you own shares in either company-their struggles are gonna be good for us for sure in the long run.

Hmmm, so even if Intel do nothing, AMD can only capture 30% of the market 'cos that's all their production capacity? Not a great inducement for Intel to pull their finger out. Or maybe they figure it gives them some breathing room no matter what?

with Fab30, AMD can produce about 30% of the world CPU demand. With Fab36 + Fab30, that number will be much higher. If Intel's new stuff comes more then 6 months after AMD's fab36 is open, Intel is in REAL TROUBLE. AMd can supply more right now if they stuck to 256KB L2 Athlon64s and Opterons But no one wants those.

I doubt that will happen though. These new projects will be on time no matter what. Just like the P4 willy. Maybe it'll suck at first, maybe it'll be awesome? That takes time to know.

I hope AMD use this time wisely, they certainly don't appear to get the recognition; and they definitely don't have the market share that I think they deserve.

Knitecrow has a good/truthful point - Intel will strike back.

Monty The author is referring to the mainstream consumer. The average Joe is not really going to care much about a little voltage difference in his desktop, whereas he will care about battery consumption on a laptop.

i think intel will do perfectly fine over the next 2 years with people like dell backing them up. i say this because dell sell loadsa pc's - for example, my school just bought about 120 dell pc's

Ummmm, its not so much Dell "backing" Intel as it is Intel "strong-arming" Dell. Dell still remains the largest OEM and accounts for a sizable chunk of all PC sales,...so yes Intel will still make money,..as much as they were 3 years ago? Not too sure about that.
