http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6716215013 and these a few hours ago. I'm back in business guys. I'm going to fold so hard it'll hurt. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...716219481&rd=1 and even another http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...716148640&rd=1 Pair that with a Supermicro Single Xeon motherboard for $200 Wow. "The thrill has come back into folding." That should be the EOCF motto.

So do I... It'll take me about 2 weeks to muster up enough money to get both rigs up. My goal is 1 a week. Although, I will be getting about $400 tomorrow from selling my P4 rig, amd 2400xp-m 35w, whitewater AMD block, dtek custom tc-4 waterblock..... amongst other things... Maybe I'll sell my shuttle sff with 3.0C also.... Who knows. So many options.

hehe, I'm thinking to build my own makeshift rackmount system outta wood. Something along the lines of what hotrod has. But mine would be vertical. I have access to practically any wood working tool needed (my father builds furniture in his free time). I've also had a lot of experience with wood. I'm thinking this could be a fun idea... I'd do something like 1/4 plywood shelves that slide in and out, kinda like tongue and groove of a big cabinet. And no perverts, tongue and groove is actually a woodworking term, it's a way to to put two piece of wood together.
Or better yet I could make something more like pull out shelves. Each one holds the PSU, and hard drive... Or maybe I could go diskless... One main rig in there that has a hard disk for all the other to share... Wow, the possibilities. |

Mine was just a prototype. I am going to build a new one this winter when business is slow. As for my slide out peg boards, I just used a saw table saw blade that had a wide kerf (1/4") and cut the groves and the boards were a perfect fit. For my next rack build I am going to take step by step pic's and post it as a farm build. |

I'm with you man. I'm gonna build something along the lines of an Armoire in the next month or two. My father is **** good with wood and I've used all the tools as well. But I was going to do roll out shelves and gonna have it sealed really tight (air tight) as much as I can. Then I was gonna put furnace filters on the back or sides yet at the bottom (not sure yet). Those would filter the air, and bring it in. In there I'd have AT LEAST 3 duallies and one AMD XP. Hopefully all water cooled. Then I was gonna put some really slow moving fan high CFM fan up on top. Dunno what type yet. This is just all an idea, but a serious one. Mind you, this will look like a piece of furniture in the house.
And if I ever decided to stop folding (god forbid) hardcore, then I could simply use it for other things. But I'd make panels to fill in the filter part and the exhaust fan so that it would look totally normal and be useable daily. |

I have noticed that with a rack farm, the dust dosnt build up very much. I got some rigs in cases and once a month I half to blow them out. But the farm rigs I do this once every 3 months....hmmmm every quarter......tax time...hehehhe
I dont know about a closed system, but mine with 12 slide out boards, it wouls take a small ac to keep it cool....... |
