That's pretty much the way it works. As for the parts, look at the rigs in post #2 above, I wouldn't think anything older than those would be worth it, even those are getting a bit dated.

Hey all I do not know what to do with a partial computer I found laying next to the dumpster at my complex? It has a k7som+ v5.2c mb and the processor looks like a 1400+. No ram in it and it does have a 400w generic ps. 11amps on the 12v rail. Also a floppy and cd rom 48x. Also a 15g harddrive. Is this something you could use for folding or should I just peice it out? I took a look an the web and this processor is soldered on LOL. So I do not even know if it fires up but let me know before I do anything else with it it's yours if needed?
