Epox 8kda3+ died?

Hello guys. I haven't posted here in awhile because I've been pretty busy.
I'm sad to see the AMD64 bit section is gone, that was my favorite place to post

Anyway, I'm here because my computer is being a ******.
Yesterday I was using my computer as normal, turned it off, came back an hour later, pressed the power button, and OMG everyone's worst fear... Nothing.
No beeps, no clicks, no fan spins.
I know it's still getting power because if I have my powersupply on I get USB power (mouse lights up) but the power switch doesn't do crap. I doubt it's a loose connection, because there wasn't any earthquake or anything, my computer was just sitting on the desk, and I tooled around checking everything inside.
I tried the whole unhook the videocard, take out the ram, all that crap, the power button isn't doing anything.

I remember reading awhile ago that people's 8kda3s were randomly dieing on them, is this how it went down for you guys? It just wouldn't turn on one day? Or do you guys have any crazy riggging I can try to see if it is my mobo that died?

I don't suppose there is any returning this board anyway, I did slightly overclock but nothing major. What mobo do you think I should buy now? Are those DFI Lanparties been working well for everyone? I remember everyone raving about them when they first came out.
My system specs are in my sig btw if anyone was wondering.
Thanks for the help!

Nope, I've always had the e in my name instead of the d.
The only games I've played with this name are IPY on UO and counter-strike. Maybe some other non-popular games.

I wish they still had the a64 section
This thread would get a lot more views there...

Ya I remembered your's dieing, but I wasn't sure if that's how it went down. I just don't get how a mobo would die with no power running through it hah. Oh well I guess it's good like that. What a pos motherboard. Why did they ship out so many that are gonna die in only a few months!!

So you think I should just go pick up a DFI then I suppose?
I really wasn't looking forward to reformatting anytime soon hehe. Oh well I suppose it'll be good for me. Or something :-/

hehe, that's number three that's dead in a few months, this board is really turning out to be reliable.

The DFI screws up my SataRaid, but oh well, guess I'll live...

Ya this board is very disappointing. I figured for $150 it would last a bit longer than my $1 fans

So what do you mean the DFI was messing up your sata raid? I remember this epox didn't like my raided raptors one bit. Took me about 3 times to get a stable windows install after tweaking different settings. I'm not looking foward to doing that again at all

Did you ever get your raid to work or are you just going unraided?
I suppose that $70 chaintech board is always an option heh. Or I could get a raid controller.... but I mean, that seems so unnecessary

Well, after all this I at least used some smileys I never seem to find use for them

Edit* Hmm, I wonder if I should just wait for a s754 PciE nf4 board heh. I still need to buy a new video card. I could just pick up an x850 and a new mobo... Wonder how long I'll have to wait.

Well I went ahead and ordered a DFI. Hopefully it works out for me.
I tooled through that DFI post, over 80 pages on it hahah.

Anyway, I never really found how you solved your problem?
What bios did you update to? I'll be sure to try to get that one asap.

10/15, but it really has odd twitches still. After a reboot it won't find the raid setup for five minutes. No matter what kind of reboot. When its turned off for like 5 minutes it'll work again, really an oddball. DFI just can't get something REALLY right I guess...

Well, it's on the way so I guess I'll learn to deal with it heh.
Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll not have that problem for me hehe.
If this mobo lasts a few years tho I'll be happy. Curse you epox!!!!

Today my 8kdr3+ acted up, out of nowhere it stopped seeing my raptor, said hdd failure, then said ntldr missing, then booted up fine and has been a happy camper. This all started while steam was dycrypting HL2 files. I dont expect much, it cost me $49.00 as a refurb fromm newegg. The 3000 newcastle was $128.00. I just wanted to get aquainted with the 64 bit platform until I do a complete new build with 939.

You could also try posting over at aoaforums.com on the problem.

They have a resident Epox tech there.

Unfortunately, you'll probably recieve a response similar to "it works in my lab!"

I've had both the 754 AND the 939, and I always end up getting rid of them
