Enermax 485W from Canada

As David was suggesting I bought 2 of those 485W SLI/PCI-E ready Enermaxes from Canadian store for $69 a piece + shipping. I didn't realize it back then, but that was a pretty good deal. These things are selling for $110 a piece on newegg. And the PSUs are really, really good. I haven't done extensive tests, but I measured the voltages at idle and when running Prime95 and they are really steable

12V: 12.55 to 12.57
5V: 5.05 to 5.07
3.3V: 3.385 to 3.387

A little high, but well within spec, and very little fluctuation. The only thing that this is missing is adjustable pots.

PS. I have tried using the dial to adjust the fan speed, but I really can't tell any difference in nosie or airflow. Whatever. Good PSU!

PPS. Service from ncix.com was excellent. Got my package from Canada in about a week, faster than from some places in US.

NCIX is one of my favorite sites due to their amazing service. When I order express from them, my package is always received in under 24 hours from time of shipping, and usually not more than 3 days from the time of ordering.

Very stable, however that +12V is a little too high, a little too close to the max spec.

Did you use a MM & test like this?

Yeah, I wasn't in a hurry so I got the cheapest shipping. I am sure if I had gone with one of the other shipping methods, I would get the package much faster.

Yes I used a MM, but I didn't go through all the different stages (post, boot, load, idle, load, shutdown, etc). I just did it when idle, and under load with Prime95. I will do a more throughout thest later.

On the side not. I think this is very curious. I recently have RMA-ed one of my older Antec SL350 PSUs (bottom fan was making noise and was vibrating the whole PC). I got a good service from Antec with cross-shipping (still have to return my old one to get credit). But here is the interesting part. The new PSU was of the new revision with 21A on +12V rail (old one had only 16A). And it had 2 SATA connectors as well. I was really excited about it. But when I installed and started testing the rails, I was shocked. All of the rails were pretty low, but within a spec, however 5V rail had only about 4.4. I was really mad. I tested several times to make sure. Then I decided that this baby is going back to Antec along with the old one in the morning and went to bed. When I woke up in the morning, run the test again, and this time it was like a completely new PSU. all rails were pretty close to their spec. The question is:

Do PSUs need burn-in time like some other hardware?

No, PS's should not require burn in.

Before you RMA anything, check it with another DMM, yours sounds like your DMM may need to be RMA'ed!

Well, then I go to home depot and buy another multimeter...now I'm reading 12.2 and 5.15. Turns out those X-Connects were actually putting out the right voltage! I think I posted a link to the multimeter I used in the beginning....STAY AWAY FROM IT! It's off by almost a whole volt!

Edit: BTW...I now have everything that I posted in my last post minus the Patriot memory and the northbridge cooler (gotta wait till next check).
