The problem is that the files are very big about 4gb and it takes a lot of time to zip-unzip them

The problem is that i dont want to compress and loose in quality.
And why when someone asks about a crack everybody knows and when i ask about protections noone knows?

Amazing how many posts I had to clean up from this thread. He clearly stated he didn't want to put it into an archive like winrar / winzip, yet people still suggested it... jesus, READ THE THREAD BEFORE POSTING YOUR COMMENTS...

Anyhow, to answer your question, AFAIK there is no DRM that can be placed inside an avi/dv file.

Here's Microsoft's WMDRM web page including tutorials & SDKs...

DRM is a rather new addition to technology, thus only newer codecs (and greedy companies) will support it.

If you want to keep your current format, you are going to have to use some other 3rd party encryption.

If you wern't going to transfer it off your PC (I know you said "other computers"), you could use the windows encryption on your HD so that only your user could read that directory.

The only way to protect a file like that is to use a 3rd party file encription software.
This will encrypt the file - and can be password protected as well. Most of these cost a reasonable amount of money, and change the file extension as a part of the encryption. You will then need the same software to decrypt it before it can be played on any computer including your own.

There is no 'copy protection' avaliable to the general public like what has unsuccessfully been tried with all DVD's and other software. It just doesn't work. Also there is nothing you can put 'inside' the file that requires authentication before it can be played - well anything that actually works.

Good luck with finding something that works for you.

Also further with the cracks, basically anything you use to protect there is a corresponding 'crack' and a 'crack' to that software as well.

Unfortunately most people are only interested in how to get their legitimate protected software for free, Not thinking about the hours involved in creating the software.
I agree most is too expensive, and less people would use pirated software if it was cheaper - I DON'T WANT TO HIJACK THE THREAD SO PLEASE don't bother replying to my comments about this, A) I don't care, and B) I wont respond.
