Some odd network problems.
About a week ago Lighting hit the power pole outside my house. No biggie, I got surge protectors on all 3 computers. Well as luck would have it the surge came in through my cable connection and fried everything in it's path. All Lan Cards were fried as well as my DFI Lan Party motherboard (was using on board LAN), the cable modem, and my power supply connected to my LAN Party MB. So I order new stuff. Got my computer put back together, it boots up beautifully (loves those LAN Party MBs). I load the drivers on the network cards on the two machines I had to replace them on, and start finding out what is still good on my network. Here it is. Motorola Cable Modem (new, and working properly) Belkin F5D6230-3 4 port/Wireless (wired, not used wireless) router Connected to the router is the following. Computer 1 using a D-Link DFE-530TX+ LAN Cards (working properly) Netgear 4 port mini hub (working properly) The following are hooked up to the Hub in an upstairs room. Computer 2 using a 3COM 3C905c (about 6 years old and still working great) Computer 3 using a D-Link DFE-530TX+ LAN Cards (working properly) The issue I am having is that everything is tested working after jockying it around and around. But once everything is hooked up to the Router (like it all used to be) Computer 2 connects right up to the internet, I can access my router config page, etc etc etc. But Computers 1 and 3 have "Limited to no connectivity". I try to connect to my router config page with the computers and it tells me "Connection refused". I've triple checked the connections, the wires, rebooted everything 2 or three times, checked and rechecked settings. I can't figure out why my router is refusing to connect to the D-Link cards. Any suggestions on what I could do to solve that problem would be greatly appreciated. Other than the 3C905 series cards I have never heard of a more reliable network card when it comes to compatibility than the D-link cards I bought, that is why I bought them, everything I read about them said setup and compatibility is a snap with all platforms and equipment brands. Unless I'm reading reviews made by total idiots my cards should be working fine. I mean I do networking for a **** living, yet i can't figure out what the problem is on my simple Home Network to get it working again. Give me a Cisco switch and it'd be fixed by now. Anyone got any suggestions or answers? Last edited by wirerat123 : 06-29-2005 at 06:09 PM. |

did you replace router? check for MAC address setings, turn off then have router search for MAC addresses when all others turned back on. or leave it off, if you are completely wired there is no need to use that filter, unless your cabling is exposed to public

Update the firmware on the router and re-build it.
Might want to try some new cables also. |
