pci latency timer?

what is the best pci latency timer settings ?> 64?

This is a tricky question. It's recommended that if you are using an nVidia card that you set it to 105 and with an ATI card you set it to 100. The problem is that with some mobo's, this doesn't work and it hasn't yet been resolved as to what the best settings are. Strange how the socket T's have been out for over a year and still no one knows for sure what to set these things to. I'd suggest you left it at auto, but that's just me.

You can try 32, but if your system seems unstable set back to 64.

I misread that totally. Sorry 3lit3. The latency timer idealy should match your agp latency. Use the latency tool here http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=951 to get a more in dept look at it and use the tool to make the changes. It will work wonders, believe me.

OT - i DLed that PCI latency timer and my 9800XT shows up with a latency of 255, what should i set it to in order to get the "smoother gameplay" that is the talk.

i used this tool some time ago never could set the latency quite right caused random system freezeing mine currently reads 248
