PS3 sales appear to have been fairly lackluster after the first rush. As far as movie formats go, both are barely even a niche market yet. It's going to be a long while before there's a winner, and it'll be dragged out even longer (or even made moot entirely) if more dual format players are released. |

I was referring to akirafan's post where he said blue ray is going to win because its got dell's support but making the drive available. I am just telling him this may not be true as dell also supported superdisk which well... died tragically. of cause a dell is different to a PS3. This is especially true when those drives are optional on a dell and yes, no one would exactly rush out to buy one. |

tbh anything i say about dell is entirely tongue in cheek, unless its dell must DIE!!!!!!
that aside i do think that dell (and alienware) backing bluray may help swing the market quite a bit. |

okay... so... BluRay.. it can be done on a smaller disc, can't it?
I mean... all it is, is a smaller laser pin-point precision on getting the data... so... you could make a mini BluRay disc, can't you? What if Sony came out with like, a BluRayUMD disc? That'd be pretty neat... |

isn't it possible? XD
All you'd need is a reader that small, and you you could utilize 'the power fo bluray' on a UMD disc, right? |

That's true....
If it could be made cheaply enough, that'd be freain' sweet... but as of now, it's just not efficient if it WERE to happen... mehhI want an mp4 player that can play all types of music, and hold up to a terabyte...or a half of one?... now THAT I'd like to see... hehe. People alerady get raped paying 350 for a 30GB Zune/iPod and crap... I'm sure there'd be people to pay 1,000 bucks for one.... |

For those who might be interested, tomorrow (Friday Nov 2nd) Walmart will have the Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD player on sale for $99, as well as several HD titles for $15 each.
This player also qualifies for the 5 free HD disc mail in rebate. |

Holy Thread Resurrection : Part 2
![]() I think Wal-Mart sold out of those players by Saturday which means they sold at least 250,000. I WAS planning to get the Samsung DB-UP5000 dual format player but that has been delayed until mid-December. I got my 12% off BestBuy coupons on Friday and decided to see what BB had as far as HD-DVD players go. They had a deal where you pick THREE free movies from the shelf, so I have officially jumped off the fence. I picked up the Toshiba A30 which includes Bourne Identity and 300 in the box, plus the Matrix Trilogy bonus box ( $35 off ), Transformers ( free ), and Letters from Iwo Jima ( free ), along with Apollo 13 and Next. I am choosing Aeon Flux, Pitch Black, Firewall, Full Metal Jacket, and Troy from the list. That is 10 free movies worth $300 and I paid $352 for the player. I am going to get the Heroes and Star Trek sets online. |

We are seeing people in our town jump on the HD-DVD bandwagon. <rant> I work for a retailer and most people still think that blu-ray is a part of the T.V. consumers will do what ever a salesman tells them to they are putty which is why when they come into our store it takes an hour and a half to explain the difference between an HDTV and a DISK FORMAT and they still go well thats not what the guy at XXXX XXX told me.......... why can't people do research?
Anyways after we explain the difference they ask which one is cheaper and buy HD-DVD. </rant> |
