question about a Aspire 500W psu

how would this hold up in a

A64 2800+
DFI NF3 250gb
2*512 Kingston HyperX 4000
6 250gb IDE hard drives?

for $15 ya i know its cheap, but i need an extra PSU

i was going to use a Enermax 460watt psu how ever my mom desided she wanted to build a P3 2.8-3.2 and that would require more power so i figired that psu would go to that

Noisetaker is mine, i also have an Enermax 460watt PSU that was in an old system of mine that i gave her but since i'm building a new system

anyone know of any good deals right now?

haven't had any issues yet with the aspire 500w...

A64 3200+ s754
Asus K8VSEDX
2x512MB Corsair VS
and i've had up to 4 drives in the machine if you include dvd-rw

i had an aspire 520w psu and under load the 12v rail rose to 12.8v
i measured w/ a DMM.

i ebayed that monkey quick

Don't ask why unless you want to join them.
I wouldnt touch ANY Aspire with a bargepole.....
If they were free they could still keep them tbh.

Go for a Fortron. Still cheaper PSUs and very good.

yeah, the fortron blue storm is a nice psu from what i've heard, and it's not expensive.

maybe i'll buy the 500, sell it on ebay, and use that money ot buy a PSU lol

thanks for the info, i had a feeling they wheren't great PSU's but i wanted to just double check

well the trickies part of aspire's is that they come pre-modded with maybe windows or pretty fan grills and speed controllers and such. The problem is that they're bad PSU's so all the decorations/accessories in the world won't change that.

What are you talking about? I thought the more LED's and Fans and grills and windows and neon colors they crammed in it the better it is?

If that was the case, Aspire would pwn.


Seriously though, don't even think about it. Aspires belong in the trash. That's it.
