There needs to be a space before each hyphen.

Why even do that?

Run the command line version. In there you set the CPU you want it to run on.

if you're trying to set folding to work using 2 instances on the x2 you only need to add the -local flag and make sure the machine id's are unique

no setting of affinity required...someone should do a write up on this & sticky it...it's definitely useful info...hmm...maybe its already been added

No you don't. Just set machine id to 1 and the other to 2.

And besides, you have to run that command line program. Once you do, you DON'T use those flags. I should delete that thread I made. I don't think enough people read to the bottom.

OK, Step by Step....

Create 2 Folders for your 2 Instances.....

For example FAH1 and FAH2

Start Fresh, No Config file, no Work folder..... Only the 504Beta Console EXE in each folder....

Run the Console. It will prompt you to config it.

Team 11314 (Of course!)

Advanced Options: YES!

Run FAH as a Service YES
Core (1-8): Enter 1 for FAH1 Folder client and 2 for FAH2 Folder Client

It will Continue to run in a Window at this point.... But upon restart both Instances will start as services on theri respective cores.

Done.

In Windows Server 2003 SP1 and beyond, you can run things with an affinity parameter as in "start /affinity 01 fah504-console" and "start /affinity 02 fah504-console". Not that the server OS is cost-effective for folding, but lots of times server features end up in later versions of the single-user OS, so we may see it in an XP service pack, or in the followon to XP.

I agree with the others that there is no significant performance advantage to affinity. Windows is good enough at keeping the tasks affinitized on its own, and even if they switch processors/cores a few times a second, the cost of cache refills is relatively small.

Are you saying that you don't want multi-threading? Or you don't want affinity? If you want 2x instances on one core, don't set affinity. However F@H doen't do multi-threading, so you can't run just one instance.

Well, if you wanted to do that you coulda just set each to machine ID1. Why would you want to run two instances on one core? This won't help you at all. It will give you less than 50% of one instance on a core.

I really think its the flag:

-a 0x2
0x1 = CPU0 (first logical/physical CPU)
0x2 = CPU1 (second CPU)
0x3 = CPU2 (third CPU)
etc...

Also, did you download the program ImageCFG.exe? I think that might be a way to do it, also after some searching on the forums, here's another way I found:
