Is this powersupply any good?

I have been looking for powersupplies to replace one i think is broken and found this... http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...Tab=1&NoMapp=0

I was wondering if anyone on here has had any good or bad experiences with this powersupply?

The Diablo is one of the worst power supplies on the market. Stick with a quality brand such as Fortron, Sparkle, Enermax, Antec, etc. Ishy makes a great suggestion. The AX400-PN would last through many upgrades.

The powersupply must have the 20pin atx , the 6pin AUX , and the 4pin P4 . I have a 550w diablo comming in the mail that I'll send back shortly after I get it. I was going to ask you guys if you know anything about the Arrow Gold 650w - Max Silent Powersupply model number: PSAW650BK ? It is supposed to have 45a on 3.3v , 48a on the 5v , and 22a on the 12v

Geez... thats attrocious.. looks like something aspire made.. 15a on the 12v rail wont even be enough for onboards graphics you will want something that has good amperage on the 12v rail.. 22a might still not ben enough.. you want 30ish.. Voltage of the PSU doesnt really matter at all.. its the amps on the rails

I wouldn't power a 486 with that PSU.

Someone at another forum linked this "old school" yet good quality PSU over at Directron: http://www.directron.com/colortt520.html

Unlike the Powmax/Diablotek that can only put out 150W (and not even do it very well) the TTGI can actually put out 550W. The only problem with this unit is it's low on the 12V, but if all your running is an FX5200 AGP card, then it'll be fine.

If for some reason you have money to burn at Tiger (credit from RMA, gift card, etc.) then you might want to look at this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...73331&NoMapp=1

Yes, it's "only" a 400W, but the very fact that the Diablotek says it's a 450W makes me gag vomit up into my mouth.

LOL that diablotek psu is more ricer than hiper. Definately dont offend your rig by putting that in it. Get a decent/semi decent old but good branded psu like has been said.

Spend more & get something you will be happy with for a whole lot longer. Check Daves list there are plenty of good PSU that will give you satisfaction & peace of mind.

I think most here can understand money being tight. Yet I think you can agree it will be even tighter
if you need to replace your motherboard and CPU because of an inferior PSU.

If money is tight save up for a bit longer and get a better PSU. You won't be sorry.

Not trying to tell you how to spend your money. Just look around the forums. More often than not cheap PSU
end up costing people more money in the long run - blown components, fires etc ...

everyone here agrees that i should send back the diablo when i get it? I'll buy the 400w powersupply that johnnyguru recommended that I buy. Well that's if everyone else agrees. Keep in mind that it must have the 20pin atx , the 6pin AUX , and the 4pin p4.

That 400w PSU should be good, Jonny knows his stuff.

However it doesn't have the 6pin AUX. Do you really need that? It was my understanding
that was mostly for server boards.

And old ones at that...

My guess is he was referring to the 6 pin PCI-E connector for video cards. The Fortron should have such an animal.

Oh, I see. What motherboard is that? You know somebody is going to ask.

No molex adapter for that since the 6pin AUX requires two +3.3v connections.

You have any electronics experience? It would be easy, and pretty cheap, to make your own
connector. Not something for the beginner though.

I think that adapter is only necessary if you use an AGP-pro video card. No?

The board is an Intel D850GB. Yes, I'm pretty sure that the 6pin AUX is only for the extra power required by the AGP pro.
