i really feel left out, i waited for this psu for so long.

Was this a working PC before and you just switched out the PSU or have you been putting this computer together and the PSU is the final piece?

I agree, could be a short. Disconnect everything except the 24 pin and 4 pin connectors and see if the mobo works, if it does, then slowly add things that are needed to get it to boot into windows. Take out you ram and reseat it while you're at it.

unplug everything and try jumping the psu with the atx plug

ground the green wire (ie paper clip in green and any black plug)

if it shuts off instantly with that then its toast, if not probably parts (or still faulty)

Sounds like a short, but when I swap parts out of a working machine I'm going to look at the parts that were swapped out first.

Put your old video card back in with the new power supply and see what happens.

If the card is bad, and causing a short in the board, not just at the AUX power connector, it'll have the same effect. I've seen some defective cards with shorts that ended up torching the slot!

Also do the green-to-black test that Watson suggests. This eliminates all variables leaving only the power supply.

Does this psu have the P4+ and the E plugs that look exactly like the regular P4? If so maybe you plugged in the wrong plug to the board.

I havent tested it really much but for what i have seen, my pc seems to be pretty stable atm. I dont know what happened there but im glad the psu finally worked.
