Affinity Question

I've been running two instances on this rig for about a month now, and when I check my processes in my task manager it claims that my cpu is running 50/50 between the two .exe's. Now all of a sudden I read http://forums.extremeoverclocking.co...threadid=57303 and it claims that I have to set my affinity for the two? It looks like it is running fine. Could I get more performance by setting the affinity? And plus even if not, I'd still like to know if it's possible to have a .exe always run on a certain core every time I open it up, because setting it can get annoying when I go to play some games that run better on 1 core.

you do not have to set affinity. even if you do, it will reset when a new wu is dl'ed...which to me seems a waste of effort.

are you running a dual core or an HT rig? dual core should be no problem, as windows will offload the F@H threads to the inactive core

I'm running a dual core Opty. I guess there is no problem then. I'll ask the automatic affinity setting some where else, since it's not a folding question. Thanks Ak.

I didn't have to set up affinity on my AMD X2. I did have to make the 'machine ID' different on the two instances of Folding that are running.

Yea I already made a thread about that one. I didn't mess with the machine ID at first, and ran the same projects for about 3 days
