When you specified the virutal machine type, did you choose 64 bit linux or 32 bit linux? I don't know if it matters but I didn't choose the 64-bit one and it worked fine for me right off the bat.

you need to be root to modify just about any system file. i noticed you had one more source than me. it was an updates thing. try getting rid of that and try again.
sudo cp where/ever/I/was/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list |

I would recomend that you open back up your sources.list and follow the instructions to uncomment all of the main sources. you will need to be root to modify the file so you could use nano from command line by typing sudo nano sources.list or use a GUI somehow

from a command line do this
go to applications -> accessories -> terminal sudo pico /etc/apt/sources.list that allows you to do commands as the system user, aka root. |

dont copy anything right now. open up the terminal so you can get to a command line. then type : sudo pico /etc/apt/sources.list
put a # in front of every line but the top two that start with deb and deb-src once you have done that, hit ctrl + x to close, this hit 'y' for yes, then enter to save. should be fixed and hopefully you can get your libs. |

I think I copied it, but then what? I tried looking for it again, no go, tried the sudo apt-get install ia32-libs but that also didnt work.....
Additional Comment: When I do the...sudo pico /etc/apt/sources.list thing it comes up blank? Last edited by DSwarP : 02-21-2007 at 07:35 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

if it came up blank, you may have actually moved the file somewhere else.
1. get the sources.txt i uploaded onto the desktop 2. open a terminal window 3. type : sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list 4. this is just like notepad, so open the sources.txt i uploaded with this program 5. copy and paste, then save |

How about just installing Ubuntu 6.06 which already has the 32-bit libs installed?
You're spending a lot of time trying to get those libraries installed, but we never really proved that was the problem to begin with. I'd really like to see what happens when you try to start FAH from the command line rather than using the folding script. Last edited by KillerBeagle : 02-21-2007 at 07:50 PM. |
