Just installed Injen CAI in the tC.

yeah it took me about 2 1/2 hours. had to remove the front left tire, and remove the front left wheel well.

the directions that came with the intake were pretty good, and it walks you right through it.

the intake sounds amazingly sexy. it added a noticable amount of power in the 3,500-4,200rpm range.

anyway, here are some pics and a video.

Aren't those motors supposed to take boost really well? I think I remembered seeing some guy try to push it as far as it could go and it did **** well. I forget who did it and if it was even a scion, but the morale of my story is: get a turbo lol

turbo is the plan.

the 2AZ-FE motor is taking up to 14lbs of boost on stock internals, pretty ridiculous.

the scion speed stage 3 bolt-on is doing 380+ whp

now i just have to find out where the nearest circuits are, and if there are any autocross events taking place around here.

sounds pretty good, do i see wheel hop towards the end of the video? or were you going down an incline?

i should take a video of the fujita intake, sounds pretty mean between 3k-5k rpm.

i can't really remember. the weird thing about the scion is if you lay back in the seats, the way the suspension absorbs impact, it's like front to back.

so you're constantly getting slapped in the back of the head. i couldn't really see myself liking that if i were on a track.

i really can't wait to get the z-rated tires this spring so i can take it to an autocross.

i'd really like to start making this into a track car. i think it would be a good project, and maybe get into a racing school. i wonder if there's anywhere around here that has anything like that. *starts googling*

hmm, a package for 1.5K, a day at laguna seca in a mazda....

skipbarber is supposed to be a good one.

Yeah fwi are really nice to add, here is a clip of my car running a custom FWI I made, that was before I did turbo and before I started playing with a tune, I would guess the car was making 150whp then, right now its at 320whp.

droz how are your tires doing? has the really sticky part left yet?

the yokohamas the scion came with were really sticky, but after about 2 weeks they lost a lot of the grip they came with.

i never noticed my tires being sticky when I got my mazda 3, but then again it was a demo car. My car came with some crappy all season Toyo's, the sidewall is way too soft for my liking and has added some more body roll when turning.

i plan on replacing them with BFGoodrich T/A KDW.

yokohama S32A. 215 45zr, yadda yadda.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....tireModel=S32A

the reviews make them seem like they're decent for what they are i guess. i still would've liked it if the sticky stayed a little longer.

i'm hoping it's just all the salt on the roads.

edit: "They came stock on my Scion tC. They happen to be great tires for a stock tire. Unfortunately, it is a very soft tire, so it wears out very quickly and to replace them is significant money"

meh, should've taken it easier

^ If its cold any tire has a hard time sticking.

S rated was way too soft for me, I didn't like it and the car had too much sway with them, the move to V rated is a big change.

aren't those just speed ratings?

S rated = 112 mph

V rated = 149 mph

Yes but usually they higher the rating the more performance oriented they are, usually the higher speed rating the stiffer they are as well.

thats not necessarily true... K31TH3R has Z rated OEM tires and they are soft. My brother's car has H rated goodyears, but the sidewall is stiff.

I think japanese brand tires tend to have soft sidewalls.

I'm so glad to hear you guys talking about autocross. Keep it on the track, it's safer, and you'll be a better driver in the end.

The CAI sounds great.

At least you bought the good CAI for the tC.

I take it your tC is an 05 since you have Yoko tires? The 06-07 almost all had Bridgestone Potenzas and Turanzas. My 07 has the Turanza tires.

You going with the Dezod turbo kit?

Agreed. If you ever read up on some entusiasts car forums the amount of people claiming faster cars from intake/exhaust is sad.
