P4 3GHz Announced!

is available?! you meant to say "November 14th"

The big deal about this one is that it starts at $600~$700, and has hyperthreading. The 2.8GHz whould drop to about $400. Don't expect to go nuts with hyperthreading, though. You need the new processor, a chipset that can use SMT, (after a BIOS flash) and and programs which are threaded for multiple CPU use.

^^^This'll do really goodin Q3A benchies at least.

That is no diferant than the 64 bit AMD being useless until the software is designed for it

that's true too. Just that both are hype and only good for marketing at this point. What i really like about SMT is that programs that are compiled for SMT will be able to effictively use more than 1 CPU for processing. This is a step in the right direction!

btw stalka, that's hammer he's talking about.
