Installed new PSU, nothing...

So I was having some issues, my PC would either shutdown randomly, or take a few pushes of the power button to start. I'd have to turn off the PSU (a cheapo Roswell) and turn it back on and then push the power and it would start fine. Then it wouldn't even hardly do that, the power light would come on but nothing would happen.

So I went out and bought another PSU, nothing fancy, probably only a little better than the Roswell. I turn off the old PSU, unplug it, and then remove it. Decided to take a few minutes and de-dust and clean every inch I could while I was there. Put in the new PSU andthe new Sony DVD Burner I picked up. Plug everything in properly. Put power to the PSU and turn it on. Go to push the power button, nothing. SO I check everything over again. Nothing still.

I decide to see if the old PSU would still work or at least do something. It does nothing as well now, won't even turn the power light on. I have everything unplugged, just power to the MoBo and that stuff, no drives or anything, just to see what happens. Both do nothing.

Am I just being really stupid and I forgot something I am supposed to do? Or was it perhaps my MoBo the whole time or something?

EDIT: So I did the power test. I first tried it on the PSU that came with the case, some cheapo one. Crossed the green wire and a black. Came on. Tried it with the PSU I had originally bought a couple years ago that I suspected of being dead. Flickers for half a second and dies. So then I tried it with the new PSU, nothing. Is there maybe something I have to do to the new one to get it going? Or did I get a dead PSU?

You need to use a PSU that is known to be working perfectly and try that, the problem could well be the motherboard. It may have been damaged when the el cheapo went down, it's advisable to buy a decent power supply, they have added protection.
