serving movies?
im trying to serve movies over my lan and then over the net. id like to be able to have an iso of what ever movie im serving be viewable in windows media player(on the other end) id also like some type of control , pause , rewind , ect id be willing to convert the movie to avi (or whatever) i tried vlc what else is there out there? the object i guess is to stream the movie from my hdd thanx |

use vlc, run the iso on daemon tools. set up a shared network drive that you can get access to.

They could be home movies he/she wants to view somewhere else.
Is VLC really illegal over there? Any chance of a more detailed description why? |

its very dark grey actually but if you look at it you could see how it would be illigal
its the fact that the software can play DVDs which is a codec that has to be bought (pretty lame eh?) |

You have to buy a codec to play movies?
Since when? :S I've been using WMP to play them for years, or does MS pay for a codec? What about CCCP too? |

usually the dvd player plays for the codec.
