and I've been dabbling with home built computers since the good old days of DOS based systemsI've just bitten the bullet, so to speak, and invested in a hi-spec system after neglecting to upgrade for a couple of years and I'll be looking for advice/help from the forum to see just how hard I can push this new system. Looking through the forum it looks like I need to set a benchmark for the new system using all the stock values and then tweak from there (with support hopefully) I note that this is the 'welcome' forum so other than post the specs for the new pc I will leave my questions for the appropriate forum sectionsThermaltake Kandalf case with Thermaltake ToughPower 1000W PSU ASUS Striker SLI Extreme mobo Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad QX6850 CPU with Asus Silent Square cooler 2 x OCZ 2GB PC2-8500 1066MHz DDR2 RAM 2 x XFX GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB DDR3 1.8Ghz 1 x BFG Ageia PhysX Accelerator PPU 2 x WD Raptor 150GB SATA II running in Raid 0 as primary drive 1 x Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA II for on board storage 1 x 2Tb Networked HD server in running Raid 5 for secure storage OS dual-booted XP Pro 32bit and Vista Ultimate 64bit (because Vista is clunky) regards Kev |

Aw c'mon Nebulous, cut the formal introduction.
:Welcome to the forums and enjoy your stay, hopefully you'll get even higher with that already high-end setup. ![]() When i got my first computer i was 5, and my dad taught me how to use it. I used to break that Win95 install all the time and then cried for dad to reinstall it... and little by little, i learned how to do it myself and now clearly outperform my father. ![]() But man, was it nice in the days of DOS games... hehe. ![]() Well, you've got a rig that many members of this forum can just dream about, i mean, look at my sig... oh wait, i broke the rules and had it removed. Till i fix that, take a look here if you wish. Enjoy yourself! |

I will post some images Monday evening after work, along with a heap of question probably (after searching the forums). I don't plan to water cool it but then again I didnt plan to buy this spec of computer either it just sort of happened lol.Additional Comment: A score 15,463 in 3Dmark using default values except a Ram voltage tweak to 2.2v. That gives me the baseline to work from Last edited by Kevlewis : 08-18-2007 at 06:42 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

masses of room for hard drives but the mobo area is snug with all the toys loaded in it. It is remarkable quiet considering the fans in it
