Read the stickies here, they are a little more up to date.
Always o/c in the BIOS. o/c in Windows is for n00bs.

what multiplyer is my E6750 meant to be. its currently set at 6 but fsb at 333mhz which means its only running at 2.0 is this right or is it something wrong in the bios?

Do you have speedstep or some power saving option turned on? That lowers the multi when the PC is idle.
E6750 I think is 8. Just divided your FSB by your stock clockspeed. |

The settings below should help get you to 3.2ghz (400 fsb x 8 multi). After you get the hang of it, you can change things on your own to fine tune or OC higher (as long as your temps stay decent under full load; I prefer to stay below 60°C).
JumperFree Configuration: AI OCing - Manual CPU Ratio Control - Manual Ratio CMOS Setting - I have mine at 8, which is the default for the e6750 FSB Strap to NB - Auto FSB Frequency - change it to whatever you can get stable (your default will be 333) PCIE Freq - leave on Auto or manually to 100 (which is default auto) DRAM Frequency - after entering a FSB Frequency, you'll have a few options. Choose the 1st option to run 1:1 (which you should choose for now), 2nd option should be 4:5 divider (don't worry too much about this option and any other options available). DRAM Command Rate - 2T DRAM Timing Control - Set to 5-5-5-15 for now (unless you know your default settings for your RAM). Only worry about the first 4 sub-categories for now, and leave the rest on Auto. See screenshots. Auto for the next options: DRAM Static Read Control, Transaction Booster, Clock Over-Charging Mode. Auto for the next two options: CPU and PCIE Spread Spectrums CPU Voltage - You'll have to figure this one out on your own. I would try 400 FSB x 8 multi, using 1.38v-1.42v (which should be more than enough, probably even be able to do it on stock voltage). This is where you'll have to fine tune the voltage setting, to try and use the least amount possible, while remaining completely stable at your desired OC. CPU Voltage Reference - You can leave on Auto. CPU Voltage Damper - Enabled, to help with voltage droop. CPU PLL Voltage - Auto DRAM Voltage - Set it to your RAM's default rated voltage. You can leave the rest on Auto for now: FSB Termination Voltage, NB Voltage, NB Reference Voltage, and SB Voltage. Under CPU Configuration, be sure to disable C1E support and Enhanced Speedstep. I disable everything under the CPU Config page. Hope that helps. |

Just like my settings. Vcore at 1.400 is fine. Just run test to find out your temps.

Thanks for the kind words, MrObvious! I found a guide on xtremesystems (I think that was the forum, but I can't remember or find it now), which helped me out quite a bit. Wish I could give credit to the OP of that thread, since he was the one that helped me get this far.
![]() Edit: Found the guide, it was actually on the Hexus forums...OP was "Clunk". Here's the more in depth guide for the P5K series board Davidoffmath, For 425 fsb, you might have to change a couple things (mainly voltages). Hard to tell you what to change for sure, but here are some ideas: CPU Voltage - try 1.425v to 1.475v (hard to say for sure since every cpu won't act the same way; you can fine tune later anyway). CPU PLL Voltage - 1.50v or 1.60v DRAM Voltage - Make sure it's set to what your ram is rated for, hope you didn't put 2.1v because mine was at 2.1v. Those 1200mhz Kingstons should be rated for 2.3v-2.35v. So I would try them at 2.3v to start off with (even if you're underclocking them).North Bridge Voltage - 1.40v or 1.55v (can't remember if it's 1.50v or 1.55v for the next option). Everything else you can leave the same as in the screenshots. As far as I can tell, there isn't a 0603 BIOS for the P5K-E Wifi/AP. There is a 0603 posted on Asus' website for the P5K. So make sure you have the proper BIOS for your proper board. Fairly easy to get mixed up with all the different P5K Series boards. Additional Comment: Quote:

I used to stress test with Prime95 for 8+ hours (basically overnight), but now I only do a few hours at most. When trying a new OC though, P95 lets me know it won't be stable pretty much right away (because a working thread or two will usually halt right away). That's when I go back into the BIOS and change something (usually voltages). I figure if my computer BSODs, freezes, or reboots while I'm using it, then I know I have to change something. lol

Are you using the stock heatsink? Those temps seem really high for only clocking that proc to 3.2.

yeah stock heatsink. i did think they looked a bit high. might have to invest in an ultra-120 extreme or something

Not there yet...
You should be able to push that chip ALOT further than that. I run an e6750 in an abit ip35-e, air cooled with a schythe scinf-1000. I am at 3.92 Ghz with load temps no higher than 63c (the chip max is 72c). I am currently stress testing it.
Here are my setttings: CPU multiplier: 8 FSB: 490 CPU vCore: 1.4925v I currently have my memory timings relaxed from 4-4-4-12 to 5-5-5-18 and my ram voltage at 2.1v (Corsair XMS2 Dominator DDR2 800). I will adjust the ram when my stress test is finished. And here is great overclocking guide: http://forums.anandtech.com/messagev...&enterthread=y systems specs: Antec 900 chassis (all chassis fans on hi - still very quiet) Antec 650w PS (from an Antec Titan650) Abit IP35-e Intel e6750 Scythe SCINF-1000 Corsair XMS2 Dominator DDR2 800 (44412) GeForce 8800GTS 320mb 1x320 GB , 1x500 GB Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer UPDATE: Stress test just failed after about 18+ hours. Will back off a little but getting close. UPDATE: Stable at 488fsb with mem timings of 5-5-5-15.... whoo hooo!!!! Last edited by mmckinney : 11-01-2007 at 11:19 AM. |

update:
right i got my scythe infinity 1200 through the other day thanks to ' jasfife' on here ![]() now im quite sure that i have another problem here if someone can help. ive installed the cooler but still getting temps of about 59c from coretemp in idle now my fan controller says its at 39c and the bios is recording it at 42c. this is before any oc'ing!! when i had the original cooler and cpu first installed it was running at about 15c according to the bios(not that i believe it) what is this chip meant to run on standard and what temp should i look for with this setup @ 3.2 OC??? |
