Are you up for a challenge??

Greetings Team OCF!

I'm the leader of Team Maximum PC Magazine (Team No. 11108). We've recently made our way to the top 100 teams and now we have our folding crosshairs set on... YOU! :-)

Your team presents a great challenge to my team, since you have a 10,000 point lead and your production curve is currently greater than ours. But I'm adding some new systems to the cause, and I'm looking to close the gap quick!

So, I congratulate your team for having come so far so quickly, but watch your back for some friendly competition, all in the name of science!

Sincerely,
[Ch]amsalot
Executive Producer, Maximum PC Magazine Commport

And contrary to the subtitle under my name, I've overclocked my 1.73GHz AthyXP to 1.87. Thanks, Mushkin, for making CAS 2-2-2 DDR that doesn't mind the speed bumpage.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

shroomer,

I got me here an AMD Athy 2100+ XP with an AX-7 HS 80mm Mechatronics fan. Running stably 13 x 144 @ 48C. Mobo is an Abit KG7-Raid (yeah, I know). Vcore=1.85

512 MB (2x256) PC2100 Mushkin CASS222, set to CAS2 and "Turbo" in bios. Memory voltage set to 2.67. I/O Voltage whatever the default was.

Windows 2KPro. When I'm running f@h overnight, I have 21 active processes including f@h. I could shut down Norton AV and lose a few more processes too. Screen saver is, of course, disabled, as is task manager, automatic updates, etc.

Other components:
Lian Li PC-86 Black Aluminum case w/ Enermax 431w P/S
WD 80GB 7,200 RMP ATA-100 (2MB buffer)
Leadtek GF4 Ti 4400
Phillips Acoustic Edge
Adaptec 19160 - retail, but only paid OEM price
Plextor 40Max (SCSI)
Plextor 12/4/32 (SCSI) (slow yeah, but I've YET to burn a CD so I could care less)
3Com 3c905B NIC

For fun:
SONY GDM-FW900 24" CRT
Samsung Syncmaster 170T 17" LCD (DVI)
S4 Midiland 8200
Logitech Cordless Wheel Mouse
MS Natural Keyboard Pro (I have the new Wireless Optical Desktop Pro but I haven't had time to take it out of the box)
Samsung ML-1650 Laser Printer
Canon S820MG Photo Inkjet (in Dell -colored Black&Silver)
HP Scanjet 6300c (SCSI)

Installed in case but not connected:
Pioneer 16x DVD. (I don't own a DVD so I could care less).

Still awaiting to be installed, lying on a bookshelf:
Dell 40x/10x/40x CD/RW (see Plextor burner comment above).

Sound good? What can I do to get a few more fps out of my folding?

you won't be able to get much more out of that processor unless you unlock it, or get some better cooling

Heh... we won't be able to compete with 200 new systems and the "Macs" at school until the crew at MPC put in a plug for our team in the magazine.

Do any of you read Maximum PC mag?

HEY! It says Warranties Voided: 1

By overclocking the FSB, haven't I voided the warranty on my SCSI card, NIC, sound card, video card, memory modules, and arguably the mobo?

Geeze, gimme a little credit here!
