newb in oc'n amd x2 6400 BE w/ asus m2n32

i have
amd x2 6400+ BE
corsair xms2 (2x1GB) DDR2 800
ultra connect vs 700W
asus silent square pro heatsink

DRAM timing is 800 MHz / 5-5-5-18 2T
everything is set to auto in the mobo

vcore is 1.4
3.3 is 3.30
5.0 is 5.05
12.0 is 11.90
they are all locked

this is my first time oc'ing
and i was wondering how to properly oc a processor
i can't figure out where the HTT is.
ive read that someone got the 3.5 GHz stable with
250 x 14, 1.5 VCore
HTT x4 = 1000
RAM 667 250 x 4 (CPU 1:1 RAM) 2.2V 4-4-4-12

i cant change the vcore, dont know the HTT, cant get the cpu/ram to 1:1 at 2.2V because the RAM starts at 1.8V going higher and CPU goes like 1.526V(?) and gets lower.

can anyone help me? thanks in advance

Just wanted to say about that you heard of MacroMage getting 3.5 stable

Me and 2 other guys have been trying to OC these chips to 3.5 stable and have been having trouble, I cant remember who it was, but they pointed out that not every chip will OC the same which is very true

But it is definately worth a try
Just quickly what OS are you using ?

I'll look into ur BIOS settings on the net and get back to ya, although by then someone may of already helped you lol.

right OK i have put in a screeny of the bios part of the instruction manual. u need to go advance and then jumper free conficertation and its all there pretty much, u got the FSB (HTT link) at the top leave the PSIe freq alone!!

FID/multi which on a 6400 can go to 16
CPU voltage which is self explanitory
HT link speed which goes form 1 to 5

i take it you have the crossfire version of the board like i have, i have 3.36 stabble
htt link 210
voltage 1.5
FID 16
HT link 5

this give you an HTlink of 1050 MHz and cpu speed of 3360 MHZ, my RAM is set to auto

orac: i dont have the crossfire version. i have m2n32 sli deluxe wireless ed.
the 3.36 works for it but i cant figure out where the ht link is
the bios pic you posted up looks very very similar to the one i have
i believe my bios version is 1402

0riginal1337: i remember i was messing around with my config in the bios before and was able to reach a 3.49 before. cant remember what i did though. i didnt run any benchmarks either because i didnt really know about them and i personally dont have the patience to run them for hrs at a time/change.

the pic attached is what i have it currently. ive done the 210x16 to get 3.36 but changed it to 225x15 to get 3.37 just to mess with it. i tried to find the ht link but failed.

i was also wondering if someone can tell me the terms used in oc'ing and what they're referring to (ie htt link = fsb which is cpu militplier [correct me if im wrong with this])

thanks

BIOS version 0906
right ok
FSB * FID = CPU freq
FSB * HT Link (NB HT link) = HTT link speed

so 225 * 15 = 3375
225 * 5 = 1125

lets have a screeny of what ur RAM is doing as well as should auto to a faster speed too. have you had a good read of the stickies too

HTT multi is located in the Advanced tab under Chipset. Then its the second row. Options are 1X-5X.

i was wondering if i should be flashing the bios to the newest version?
would it actually make any difference besides supporting quad cores?
my bios is still 1403 (its the beta version ... its not on the asus downloads link anymore) and i see there's a new 1701 now .. wasnt there last week when i checked..

It could make a difference, try find software to back up your current BIOS rom and then flash it, see if there is a difference, I.E. stability etc...then if it is worse flash back.

Thanks, 0riginal1337
