If you live near a microcenter, you can get a retail GO SLACR Q6600 for $200

They say the Blood Iron gets fried by overclocked quads after a few months. I have the Gigabyte P35-DS3 and it's a solid board, would recommend it to anyone.

No As(s)us boards please... You'll thank me later. That Foxconn mentioned above looks solid.

whats wrong with ASUS? my A8N5X board seems to be doing well.

the P5K seems highly recommended and ive never heard the foxconn mentioned before.

im not disputing anything here. i just am curious why i should go one over the other.

the Gigabyte EP35-DS4 looks good too. AH!! so many choices. every time i build a system the mobo is the hardest piece to decide on.

I have never used an asus board, but people have mixed feelings on them.

Asus made some legendary boards like the P55T2P4 or the P2B-DS, but most of their later ones are generally rubbish. Also, they now have WAY too many models for a single company.

Foxconn makes a lot of OEM stuff, chances are the connectors at the back of your Asus board are made by Foxconn, take a good look at them. They make some solid mobos and video cards too, just that they usually hit retail under a different company's name.

That Gigabyte board looks nice too, the DS3 is getting kinda old i suppose. I'd go for Gigabyte or Foxconn, in that order.
