RivaTuner and nvidia performance problems

Basically the problem is I cannot overclock my 8500GT. I installed the new forceware and the new nvidia system tools and now the overclocking tab has gone there. So I downloaded RivaTuner and followed a few guides and have got to the overclocking tab in that. I slide up the sliders and click apply yet it has no effect on the actual clocks.

I have attached some screenies to make things slightly clearer.

Any help someone?! Thanks

Fist increase fan speed, then increase the core clock/memory. Than save those profiles and open up gpu-z. That should reflect your change, sometimes the nvidia control panel does not reflect changes made on the software level through rivatuner.

When I click apply and save it as a profile.. I then click ok and the sliders move back down to their default values. Its almost as if something is pulling the clocks back down again after OC'ing them in rivatuner

I might try that now and report back

Additional Comment:

Just experimented installing the new forceware from tweakforce and its still not working, What im going to try now is completely remove rivatuner and start again

Just unistalled RivaTuner and reinstalled. Still not working.

Might just have to accept the fact I am lumped with a ****ty video card!

Ive never personally seen the clocks go back to default after setting them manually. I have seen cards blow up that shoulda gone back to stock Sorry I'm outta ideas. Rivatuner should be forcing the clocks at the software level.

Rivatuner doesnt work for me so I went back to nvidia and went hunting for what I had before i installed the new forceware and found it here:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/ntune_5.05.54.00.html

I now have the ability to overclock in the nvidia control panel but cannot control the shader clock.. so cannot clock the core so high as they are linked at the moment. Is this possible to unlink them manually somehow?
