NVIDIA G92 and G94 GPUs failing too?

As if the whole defective NVIDIA GPU situation couldn't get any more confusing, The Inquirer is now reporting that the previous batch of bad GPUs may be far from the end of NVIDIA's problems. Apparently, four unspecified board partners are now saying that they're seeing G92 and G94 chips going bad at "high rates" as well, and in both desktop and laptop cards no less. That includes 8800GT, 8800GTS, 8800GS graphics cards, "several mobile flavors" of the 8800, "most" of the 9800 suffixes, and a few 9600 variants, all of which are based on the G92. As for the G94, it seems the only card affected is the 9600GT. Of course, none of this is nearly as set in stone as the previous lot of problems, but we have a sneaking suspicion this won't be last we hear about it.

this could be true. my card started acting up shortly after i got it. i attributed it to PSU problems but recent PSU swap has yielded little change (garnered me some extra FPS, so i believe it was underpowered but some serious issues still exist). i have 2 other things to try before i flat out boil it down to a bad gpu. thank god EVGA has that lifetime warranty.

Don't ask why unless you want to join them.
If this was really a problem, threads would be popping up everywhere about their cards crapping out on them. I havent seen an inordinate amount here or at XS.

Another INQ article....

to the people saying FUD:

at least look into the facts before declaring it FUD.

I've put my 8800gt's through more than any one person can imagine and they're still rock solid. The Inq never seems to get it right.

Those reviews are about notebook gpu failures basically.

I would first like to say i'm not calling anybody here wrong, nor am I implying any of you don't know what you're talking about. That having been said, let's say for the sake of argument that everybody who posted has 4 of theese GPU's. That's a total of 80 (including my post) How many of theese chips were made? Millions? I'm not saying any of you are right or wrong, but the reports are getting more wide-spread. I just read an article about it elsewhere.
