.... It just means it isn't going to be the enormous leap forward in gaming that Core was over P4. It's not like it's going to be WORSE at gaming. But we already knew this... data leaked before put it at 1.1x to 1.2x tops the performance of Penryn in gaming.

But let's not forget that in all probability it may clock better, the FSB will no longer be a limitation, and memory bandwidth will be greatly improved. So in the end, for people like us this may very well be a better deal than it looks.

Very true. But when is a new arch not expensive? Even more so when it makes as radical a change as introducing an IMC?

Give it a chance. If they meet the same pricepoints they have with every other CPU launch ($200, $300, $500, $1000), then I'm sure it'll at least be worth looking into if it overclocks as well/better than the Q9x's do.

The point is that AMD introduced the IMC quite a while ago. It looks like the leap won't be big enough to justify the price.

keep in mind only the expensive chips of these will clock. We will see when it comes out, from that article, it may not game even as good as the current ones, like they said, these ones were designed for the gamers in mind this time around. They designed it to beat amd at what amd has been beating the current chips at, which isnt games.

No, all of the LGA1366 cpus will overclock. It's the other socket that won't.

The Deneb will work with AM2+ boards so if you have a budget all you really need at this point is a new motherboard and a Deneb itself of course.
