I downloaded the Folding@home and I opened it up...and it says please enter user name and team number and pass key...

What do I put where, and how do I start it to do it's own thing.

Use your folding name or you can make one up

Use team number 11314

To get my passkey it says that I need an account, how do I make an account?

Or do I just make up a user name and use my email to get the pass key?

Edit: I just put in caraboose for the username and my email and I got it...**** that's a long key..
Edit edit: it's now doing these process things, is there anyway that I can see what it's actually doing?

Which client have you chosen? The console/SMP/GPU/GUI?

I believe that it's only the GPU and the GUI ones that you can physically "see" what's going on. Don't worry though, even if you can't see, Folding@Home will still report when you have completed x out of y steps with a percentage. That's an indicator of how far it is on completing the work unit.

Oh, thank you for choosing to run Folding@Home and thanks for joining the EOCF team. Even if you contribute 1 WU a week, you will still be benefiting mankind. Again, thank you.

OK...Good news. First tell us what you downloaded (what core) or post your log file and we can set up Fahmon for you.

You can read more here http://forums.extremeoverclocking.co...d.php?t=262145

Cool. I don't care if other people steal my username (ON FOLDING@HOME ONLY). It really doesn't matter. Kicking cancer in the nuts is all that matters!

Yes. That is all the passkey is for... to keep someone else from folding under the same name. I'm not sure whether the F@H client checks whether a user name is taken but you can do that at the main stats area at Folding Forum. I don't care if someone wants to fold under my user name.

You can find out what protein you are working on by reading the FAHlog.txt or FAHlog-Prev.txt file located in your F@H directory. If you have several clients and/or machines, you can install FahMon to monitor your rigs and also view the log files.

You will be looking for a line similar to this one...

[xx : xx : xx] Project: 2665 (Run 2, Clone 673, Gen 44)

This tells you that you are working on a Project 2665 and you can go here...

http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummary.html

... to find out more about that particular work unit.

Installing FahMon ( http://www.fahmon.net/ ) is a quick and easy way to find out how many points it is worth, the completion deadlines, and how long it will take your computer to process it.
