SMP and WinXP x64

I can't seem to get the SMP client (tried several versions) to run on my computer. It keeps crashing. I wonder if it could be that the client doesn't want to run under 64-bit Windows.

Has anyone here been able to run it in WinXP x64? Did you have to do anything besides install and run it to get it to work?

what exactly have you done to get it running and what types of problems are you having? After the install of the client, install.bat, then it should run.

I am having similar problems running the new SMP client on my xp64 workstations. My xp32 workstation runs normally.

I finally got the new client installed correctly but seldom will two WUs run at the same time.

The initial problem I had with installation was not using the -smp flag the very first time I launched the client.

If I get time I will post the log of the crash for comparison.

EDIT

Just saw this post:

That is the problem I am having

When I run the install script it runs normally and successfully runs "foo.exe" in parallel "...you should see this message twice" appears twice.

Here's my output (after a fresh install):

Executable: D:\Program Files (x86)\Folding@home\MPI\Folding@home-Win32-x86.exe

Additional Comment:

I think it may have been a problem with the WU. I switched to version 5.92 which failed several times on the same WU, then downloaded a new one and is working just fine.

I used to have problems with 6.22 but since the most recent release it's worked fine for me for about 2 weeks straight no EUE's so far. It really might have been just a bad unit. I had a bunch of those even on my 5.91 right before I switched back to 6.22

I've had this problem with windows vista 32bit as well, so it seems it's not just XP64.
