Simple put, raid0+laptop = major failure. The speed increase doesnt outweigh the risk factor.

wow wow now, dont hate on my raid0
![]() my Dell is capable, and i believe newer generation dells are as well (mainly 17 inch models). jmilch is right tho, having raid 0 didnt boost performance enough to warrant the risk involved. you may want to give this article i recently found a read. it talks about newer laptop drives which are much better then old ones. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...rive,2006.html |

RAID0 does have advantages, and im not denying that. I myself had run RAID0 and RAID0-1 configs for years, but in the end, a decent single drive did just as well in real world apps for the most part. The increase in performance didnt amount to the risk involved for volatile data. Especially in the mobile environment!

Some Asus g series give you a choice of raid0 or raid1, if they are configured with 2 Disk Drives, naturally. There are generally three series A1, B1, C1 the C1 which as the highest configuration, usually Raid and SLI and is higher in price. You can buy from places like Gentec & Exotic in the US and have them set up in any form you like.
Check Notebook Review Forum, both companies are very active there. |

Hey jmilch! Not disagreeing with you on the RAID vulnerabilities. Thanks to your post, decided to load Acronis True Image and burn image of array. Hoping with incremental backups to USB hard drive, even if Data corruption occurs it won't be any big deal to reset array. I was surprised at how little difference it made in Vista boot time. Thinking about turning off some features to make vista more responsive. Oh, Notebook forums has a lot of posts on this gateway laptop. Seems to real popular with enthusiasts.
