Took the plunge, Antec 1200

Well I just took the plunge and bought a good case for the first time ever. I've always bought cases for 50$ for under until now. When I get time I will create my build log with current case pics (no room for cable management and all 80mm fans loud!)

I'm quite excited to start my project with my new case, wish me luck! Oh and a big thanks goes out to the poster who saw the free shipping and 20% off until 10/20!!!! :-D

Edit: Photos of my mess I call a computer.

Yessir, I was going to wait for my new build, but it doesn't really matter if I buy the case now, and its on sale which made me say......either get a good price now or pay 60$ more cuz of shipping and no sale later......

Additional Comment:

Anyone who is using the Antec 1200, Did you need an extender cable for your 8 Pin cpu power cable, I read somewhere in a review that most cables would come short if the plug is up near the top of the board.

meh I am waiting for the Antec P183

I was looking at the picture to see where your power cable plug into the board but got lost, then confused. The biggest problem for the power though is, will the 8 pin power cable reach all the way to the top of the mainboard from the bottom of the case? You should be an extender just to be safe, wouldn't it suck not being able to use the new case because of a simle power cable not being long enough.

If the 24pin power is in the middle of the board you should be good.

24 pin is top center on the right edge. The 8 pin power is at the very top left behind the tuniq.

Additional Comment:

if worst comes to worst I can just run the 8pin over the top until I get an extender.

Additional Comment:

Another random question, If you guys look at the photo where you can see the video card I have 2 60mm fans between the cards blowing inward to provide extra airflow. I don't know if I'm going to have the 1200 the same way, but I had the 80mm fan on side door exausting all the heat from those 2 fans blowing in. I'm wondering if having the side fan blowing in would get me better temps. Only problem with that is I don't think the cards would be able to get any fresh air because so much air would just be blowing towards them.

If I'm not being clear I'll make a diagram and post it up to what I had going on in that mess.

Front and side intake, rear and top exhaust keep in mind your PSU will also aid in removing the hot air that is down load from the graphics cards when I flip my side fan to exhaust I actually get an increase in temps

Hmm, well I'll have to do some testing. I got higher temps with my side fan blowing in. I also have the middle fan that I can put it. I might put the Hr-03 back on top, point my tuniq upwards, and the card with the zalman in the lower slot. I should be able to feed that plenty of fresh air with the mid case fan, and I'll put my high RPM fan back on the card with the HR-03.

I'll post some diagrams about my ideas late tonight when I get off of work, and I guess I'll test them later this week :-D

Additional Comment:

Oh, and it's being shipped from NJ, so hopefully I'll get it tomorrow or Thursday!

I just got this case a week ago, it's the bomb man. Although the 8 case fans all on low are kinda louder than my old case (0 case fans) :P

Well the case comes in tomorrow, I just did a reformat and set up a stripped array. To bad game stop sold all their copies of far cry 2 this morning. 130$ on games in a month is way to much. Hopefully these are worth it :-D.

I'm loving it so far, my gpu and CPU temps are much lower. This will by let hot air stagnate in your case that for sure. The cable management is great and the case is really sturdy. I would not recommend this case if you move it often, it's a very akward shape and heavy fully loaded. All on all I love this case and give it a 9/10.

I can attest to this case being nothing but awesome. Every bit of it is rounded corners and edges and handy features and design. For the prices I see its a steal (haha get it?? steal case... nm bad pun ).
