So you basically want to split a video and photoshop a third eye onto a cat then put it back into a video ?

well
i want to 3rd eye the cat , frame by frame , as to imply motion

i figure @ 25 fps , for a brief 5 second clip it shouldnt hurt too bad.

the cat is willing to cooporate

but yea split the video , then frame by frame -"inject" the extra "eye"

Additional Comment:

then re assemble the video - out of each modifyed pic

I know VirtualDub has an option to export an entire video file, or a selection of frames in it, as images.

They may have been BMP's, not JPEG's, but working with JPEG would be ill advised for what you're trying to do anyway.

As far as re-assembling them? I have no idea.

Don't ask why unless you want to join them.
Adobe premiere allows this. You are simply replacing frames.

it really doesnt matter what format the pic is in .

just split to individual frames ( from movie )

tweak each frame

then re assemble (to movie )

but thanks

windows movie maker also allows this in the more advanced settings but u will probably need to dig deeper online to find how u do it. my friend did it on one of his youtube videos.

am i right to think that this is the easiest way to put another eye on a cat? - or is there software that can render it from samples of movies ( or a movie of a cat )?

i do it with the " healing brush "
alt-clik , and pop! , instant 3 eye cat!

i see stuff like this on commercials all the time , what software do they use for computer graphics that can take an " sample movie " and mutate it ?

thanx for any input

Keyframing every single frame in either Final Cut Pro, Avid or Premeire..sorry but you will need a pretty advanced video program to do this (though at least reading this thread, it can be done in WMM). Pretty much you need to make the graphic of the third eye then import it into your video program then put it over the video of your cat and then go frame by frame tweaking its position and blending it

yup
every frame

the eye "thing " should be reasonably easy - because i can use the eye thats allready there -( even the one from the original frame ) - it would have the same reflection(s) , shadows , angle , ect - perhaps a few frames foward or back to get the random " blink" a third eye might have.

hitting the same spot - when you move frame to frame ,would be tricky
add the " loose " panning of the camera , maybe some other " distraction "
and 25 frames are gone - ( along with the elusive 3 eye cat)

25 frames? That is less than a second, going to be one quick flash (of course, I assuming that is what you are going for)

it would be a total of 125 frames for around 5 sec

i could even upload it into the same camera that "illedigly" took the movie in the first place
that should be the icing on the cake

you can doule the frames to make it longer. Most people wont notice if it's on a small screen - ie a pdmp (<- personal digital media player, did I just make that up?)

you could use sony vegas or after effects to use motion tracking to just add the third eye straight to the video

there are tons of tutorials you can use on youtube to do this easily even if you have no experience with video editing

the only thing is, the better you want it to look, the more keyframes you'll want to manually do by hand, and the longer it'll take
