CoolIT Domino A.L.C. (Advanced Liquid Cooling) Review @ EOC!

EXTREME Overclocking has just posted a review on the CoolIT Domino A.L.C. (Advanced Liquid Cooling) for CPUs.
Today we will be looking at a water cooling kit for your processor from CoolIT Systems. The CoolIT Domino A.L.C. is an all-in-one water cooling kit, meaning you don’t have to buy the block, pump and radiator separately. A.L.C. stands for Advanced Liquid Cooling. Read on to see if this kit cools off the competition.

Yeah I think it is pretty slick and I'm kind of thinking of buying one for myself. For essentially $80 you have a ready-to-go water cooling system. No assembly required. When you consider how much other high-end air heatsinks cost, plus usually a fan or two... It really is a good deal for the performance & silence.

Don't get me wrong, I love seeing the custom WC setups people do with the large tubing and blocks. But those cost money and take some skill & time. This is something that gives a novice better cooling without requiring a lot of effort.

Not for nothing but why did that get an editors choice? It's $125 which is $65 more then the TRUE.....those temps are crap for spending $125.....but that's just IMO

UPDATE: 9-17-09 IT LEAKED!! Luckily the fluid wasn't conductive, but I am home and there is neon green GOOP all over my case. I hadn't moved the thing in months, it was on my 24/7 rig, and came home to see that it had leaked. Let's see how good CoolITs support is.

The thing is ~$70-75
That is why I gave it an Editor's Choice. If you look around online you can see it cheaper than that even. For the price the performance is great.

Once you buy a TRUE, and a nice fan or two you're right in that price range.

Finally, a watercooling all in one that doesn't completely suck.

But it would be cool if they offered a 2x120 version as well. Obiovusly the rad size is most likely the limiting factor here.

Although is the whole thing really powered off of a motherboard 3 pin? If so, that's somewhat frightening... aren't they only rated to like 5-6 watts?

Well that changes things a bit when I red the review I clicked on a link (I forget where it is exactly) and it had that system on a list for $125 which is why I thought that is what the cost was

Is there any way to mount this outside the case? I would prefer to do that rather than trying to mount it inside my cramped Antec900.

You'd have a hard time I think because it's an all in one device. You can't really take the tubing apart and cut holes to run it through outside your case. It's really not that big of an item though. You just replace your rear 120mm fan w/the device, and it's all mounted and done.

It looks like it might interfere with the side fan on the antec 900.

That's what I was really getting at. I'd like to retain a side fan to intake on my expansion cards, while being able to effectively cool my CPU...

May still save up and pick up a Swiftech H20-220....

I love the "Intel Retail HSF : FAILED" haha. But anyways... So would this be good to keep an overclocked Q6600 at probably 3.4-3.6 in acceptable temps while running Prime?

Looks like it's a great starting point to get your feet wet in liquid cooling. It's appreciably better than a TRUE (Thermalright Ultra Extreme).

You know, that's one picture (and info) I just realized that is missing. How is the unit powered? A 3-pin or 4-pin connector?

It mentions in the review that it's powered off of a 3pin MoBo header, but that can't be correct, there's no way that a single mobo header could have enough power to power the pump, fan and LCD....

It was in the review. See

The 3pin plug connects to your motherboard header and powers the whole device.
There was also at least one pic of the power connector when I sent you the pics.

That is 100% correct. That's all it needs.

Anyone tried this thing in a THERMALTAKE ARMOR full tower case? Specifically I was wondering where the LCD lines up and if it is obstructed.

Yes it does. You can not use side fan.But with temps it is not needed. With ANTEC900 with side panel on and fan removed you can see LCD with no problem.I just bought this for Intel Q9450 and i have to say it works great CPU is at 3.704 and teps are 30-32 idel and 40s load .Thats as good if not better temps as my old Zalman 9700 on high. Its a great little cooler if you are looking for a new 1 it cost as much or even less that a highend Air cooler.I paid 72.99 with shipping worth ever penny.Good job CoolIt and EXTREME i would have never found it.
