Yeah, I'm sure I'll come up with something

My aim today is to order the anti-kinks, fan grills and Zalman Fan Con.

Bit of a delay on stuff.

I will still be getting my rad tomorrow, fans and the acrylic as well. But the rest of stuff such as paint, fan grills, anti-kink coils, fan controller, wet & dry, heat-shrink, nuts and bolts, zip-ties, I won't have until Monday and Tuesday.

So I'm afraid I won't be doing anything to my case until Monday. But I will be working the whole two days maybe three to get it done.

Time scale:

Monday Midday - Clean/Sand/1st coat of paint on case/side panels
Monday Evening - 2nd/3rd/4th coat
Tuesday Morning - Clear coat (not UV I'm afraid)
Tuesday Midday - Finishing any case mods/cut acrylic to size, shape/finish side panel
Tuesday Middy/Evening - Dry fitting loop w/out MB/CPU etc.
Wednesday Morning - Remove loop/insert hardware
Wednesday Midday - Cable management/inset loop
Wednesday Evening - Double check everything and power up

And that will be it.

I'll document what I've done after each main thing. Got to love my mom's laptop at that point.

Additional Comment:

UPDATE:

I've gotten my new rad today ! And the 3 additional Antec Tri-Cool 120's that I needed.

One problem...one of the Antec Tri-Cools was opened already and missing the fan screws . I've got to go back to the place on monday, which has annoyed me quite a bit. So much so that I won't be throwing pictures up of anything until Monday. Sorry guys.

UPDATE:

Ok, now the kid in my just wants to get this rad open, and start tinkering around with it. Although I can't put it in the case until I believe Tuesday as Monday is painting day.

So first of all I'll put up a rather badly drawn picture of the fan layout/airflow that I'm aiming to having. It should really work well, I also went towards the anti-pressure thing that WD did with his, more CFM out than in.

So here is a list of the parts that I'll be using for this

6 x Antec Tri-Cool 79CFM 120mm Fans
2 x ThermalTake Quiet 54CFM 120mm Fans
1 x ThermalTake 97.3CFM 120mm Fan

I will use 6 Tri-Cool's on the Rad, 2 54CFM fans as intake and the 97.3CFM fan as intake also.

This is what I'm aiming my design to be like:

As you can see I'll have the ThermalTake fans as intake and the Antec's as output. I'm still undecided as to whether I am going to use the single 120mm rad on the front with the TT fan I've got up front, but maybe.

So anyway, here is a few pictures of my rad.

So there you have it, on Monday I'm going to be getting the rest of stuff I need to get. This includes paint, Acrylic, nuts&bolts, wet&dry, zip ties and anything else I need. The things which I'll be getting Tuesday (hopefully) will be the Zalman fan con and also my 2 white fan grills and white UV anti-kink coils.

Thanks for reading.

Hey Myles... just a thought... where you have the rad on the top, why don't you just have the fans on the inside of the case, then the rad mounted to the top of the case then fans on top of the rad... it doesn't make sense to have double-stacked fans. You can then use black silicone as a gasket between the rad and the case...

Yeah I get what you mean. I just thought it might help a tiny bit but look cool as well.

But I will think about that. If it ends up as me having a couple spare fans, I'm sure I can think of something to do with em.

I like your thinking eclipse.

Here is a few pictures of my rad after I have swapped the fans over. From the stock fans to the Antec Tri-Cools.

did you think about getting shrouds to get rid of the dead zones or does that rad have them built in?

The sides of that rad are raised slightly from the surface of the fins, so he shouldn't have a problem. That's something some clear silicone could solve if necessary.

I have been thinking that actually...the whole "Dead Zone" thing.

I don't think I'll have that much of a problem...but...if I do then I'll just buy make my own shroud from a couple sheets of Acrylic with a hole cut in em....Kind of like a stand off for the fans.

I would go that route case it does not look like there can be very much room at all between the fans and the tubes.

Looking nice! Enjoy the new rad

For the case painting, just follow AT's tips and it will be fine. thats what I did. dont sand the case - its going to take too much time. Just prime it using some metal primer (possibly the same brand as your paint), and use your favourite metal paint rattle can. It did not end up perfect for me (painted outside at -20C AND we did not see anything at night ) but you can make it perfect. Just take your time... small coats will work best

As for your 5000+ clocks. Try using lower voltages instead of rising them. Im trying to find the "sweet spot" for mine, as at 1.79V (yeah you read that one right) it's less stable at 3434MHz than at 1.62V ^^' Im now trying to get the highest clocks I can out of it at the lowest possible volts - just raising volts will not help the chip. At stock volts (somewhere near 1.35V) the chip should reach 3GHz. If it does not, re-seat your waterblock. It may seem weird, but higher speeds at lower volts were easily within reach on my first (crap) heatsink, and they were not available anymore on the Xig. They are now "available" again with my GTZ.

Keep up the hard work Get more pics up!

Also Monday I'll have some more pictures of stuff

Before and after shots of the case, ya know. That kinda stuff.

Myles... I'll reiterate what they have said too... take your sweet time about it... don't rush... get it just perfect, the way you want it, and don't worry too much about updating us during that time or w/e... just enjoy the time and don't rush it...

my worst problem with my current rig, and yes I know everybody thinks it's great, the problem was that my wife got irritated that it was taking weeks, yes weeks, to build the thing... so she made me rush to finish it... and it didn't turn out at all how I wanted it to... so the next time I know to just ignore her and take my time and get it done right. So that's my advise to you... take your time, days or weeks if necessary... and do it the way you want it the first time, so that you don't have to be dissapointed with it...

Slight update:

Today was a day of running around for me. Buying bit's and pieces. Wet/Dry paper, Nuts/Bolts, Paint (I think I got enough), ordered Acrylic to be cut, picking that up tomorrow morning. And then I just got to get a couple small things, zip-ties and heat shrink. Fan con should be here tomorrow as well, but may have to pick that up on Wednesday.

So tomorrow is going to be paint day.
