Copying OS (XP) drive-to-drive quick question
Currently I have 80gb hdd0, 200gb hdd1, with a fresh xp install on the hdd1 set as D on the jumpers/cable. Initially I intended to do a brief xp install/partition on the 200gb to allow myself a backup os and then do a fresh on the 80gb aswell. Well I got carried away and at the end of the day, Im 99% content with the install and dont want to redo the hours of work on the 80gb. I know I can mirror what Ive done to the 80gb but will I run into any problems when I have the 80gb as hdd0 "C" drive considering everything I have now (shortcuts, program installation paths) is written in "D" drive? |

You can't set a drive letter with the jumpers.
It's not going to translate anything at all, it's just copying files. |

I should have been more specific, I have IDE drives, I have the 80gb as master on the cable and jumpers, and the 200gb as slave on the cable and jumpers. The 200gb is thusly D and all the command lines are as such. What kind of problem will I have if I want to HDD copy to and boot from the 80gb as C?

the drive is D: because you designated it that way to the os, nothing to do with cabling afaik.
You can use the slave drive as your c drive. But if your existing installation has all that on the d drive, start over. If you make that stuff on C:, all the references will still be to D:, lots of problems. Norton Ghost would do what you need i think |
