Honestly... i can't see why you're spending the money on the processor.

I'd swap out the GPU's instead of spending money on a new processor, especially if you're gaming.

The i7 architecture isn't really that much faster in games, so unless you do a lot of video editing or processor intensive work, your money is better spent on faster GPU's.

There is no other processor that will work with that motherboard?
if u can find me a cheaper intel 920, ill take it.

PS: plus i don't mind spending the cash, it been a while since any upgrade.

What's wrong with your 9400? Give it some more voltage and clock it up some more if you feel it's slow.

If i were to upgrade that GA P35 DS4 system i'd just take out the 3870x2's, ebay them, use the cash to put a 2x4890's in there or 4870x2's if you're enjoying quadfire.

You'll have a MUCH bigger boost in games going that route.

you make some valid points...but

im going the Gigabyte GA-EX58-EXTREME because i want WC the nth brigde, it has a water block ready to go..
plus id like to jump on the 920intel bandwagon as well....plus bring it on "ddr3"
plus the x58 will allow my cards to both work at x16... no need for new video cards yet...anyway parts are on the way !
My pc isnt purely for gaming, it been a hobby of mine for many many years, theres nothing like new hardware !

All left over parts will probably go on another pc, i have a pile of pc parts sitting here ready to be used.

plus i cant get my FSB past 450 with the motherboard im using, it locks up every time..god knows ive tryd.
