Whats happened to my ram
I have moved over to Windows7 RC and I have found something in cpuz it is saying on the memory tab that my ram 8 gig is running at 533Mhz. But on the SPD tab it is saying my Max memory slot bandwidth is 6400 (400). I am running 2x2gig HyperX KHX8500D2K2/4 and 2x2gig XMS2 8500 because I had some problems and the XMS2 wasn't working in my board and now it seems I does. So I have thrown the extra 4 gig in as they are the same speed just not the same timings. Hopefully to over come the timing difference I have set it to Auto, they could probably be lower but in this department when I am not sure of something, I prefer to go with the safer bet. Also when I tried to set them on 5.5.5.18 it wouldn't boot. lol so here I am again turning to you guys to get me straight. I have only upgraded to the 7750 BE 2 weeks ago and it still feels a little different to my 5000+. Also the move over to Windows7 might be screwing things up. The other thing I was thinking was my board does support 1066 its plastered all over the box. What controls my ram buss other than the ram controller in the cpu ? can you change it in a different bios? The book said something about flashing the bios for the phenom as these are half a phenom does this mean i need to flash as well? I did realize the ram controller is in the cpu as my old 5000+ didn't support 533 native and the 7750 does. I thought this was going to assure me of 1066. like it is saying on the memory tab. Why is nothing as easy as you think it is going to be. Oops its 4.48 am I need sleep I will pop back in afew hrs i need to close my eyes lol they sting. All help is gratefully appreciated as always |

1.) CPU-Z is often wrong. 2.) Go into your BIOS and see what it says the memory bandwidth is. You should see it saying 533 (1066 in dual channel). 3.) Always have the newest BIOS for your board. 4.) running different RAM modules at different timings is not a good idea. Leave them all on AUTO and be happy with what you get or try giving more/less voltage in an effort to have them all run the same timings. |

Sorry for the incoherent babbling.
![]() It was a real log day. I should have just went to sleep. I relay spun hard when I seen the 6400 max bandwidth. I am set at 533 in bios and it is reading the speed as 533/1066 and I can live with with Auto for the timings. |
