It has 6 USB ports on the back, ready to use, and probably 3 USB headers on the board itself, into which you can plug a USB header adapter like THIS.
Unless you are going to be using more than 6 USB ports, I wouldn't worry about it much. Also, most cases usually have a built-in socket that connects to the header on the board, and gives you 2 or 4 USB ports on the front of the case. Last edited by FX5200 : 07-14-2009 at 10:40 AM. |

Did you swap out the Q6600 for the Q9550? It is faster stock, has more cache, and can be overclocked higher and cost like $20 US more.

Is your list still the same as the one on page three? If so I would go with either the ATI 4890 or the Nvidia GTX275. Other than that it looks good.

To answer the question about what makes gaming better, it is mainly a mix of the GPU and CPU. RAM does play a part, but does little to nothing to improve performance. If you have 4GB of RAM, then you will be more than fine for gaming. The Q9550 will be a beast for gaming, especially if you decide to overclock it to 3.5ish, which should be easy for that CPU. The GPU of course makes a large difference in gaming performance. Like Peanut said above, the ATi 4890 or nVidia GTX275 will be fine as long as you don't want to go crazy and demand that you play Crysis at all max settings with good FPS.
As for the heatsink, I would recommend a Xigmatek HDT-S1283, Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer, or a Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120 (120mm fan). The Xigmatek and the Sunbeam are both cheaper than the TRUE, but perform nearly the same as the TRUE (~1c difference). For the HDD, sure if you want get the Samsung. I think the only reason people have been telling you to veer away from Samsung is that because Western Digital and Seagate focus mainly just on manufacturing HDD's, so the reliability and features that the Samsung has may be less than a WD or Seagate drive. And you could always just get a 7200RPM 32MB cache WD or Seagate drive... that way you wouldn't lose performance. |
