Okay so my friend is INCREDIBLY LUCKY
However my jaw just dropped when I saw the specs. Mobo: ASROCK 775 VSTA (no idea what kind of VSTA it is, but it's got PCI-E port!) CPU: (hold yer breath) C2D "E60400" (my guess goes to E6400 which would be AWESOME for her to have) RAM: 2GB (whatever brand/config it is) For, like, FREE! I get to give her a case, find her a video card to play games, and PLAY with that RIG! All right, now she'll need a PCI-E way of getting 3D graphics to display on her random monitor (nothing hi-def, its probably going to be a cheap CRT), so what will get the job done for as cheap as possible? (let me say this first: 4830/4770 are out of price)

REALLY needs to be a low price, somewhere around $50 USD shipped would be tops. Can you do that?

Nag, I got this if you're interested, recently pulled it out of my rig for the 4870 I just got.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102725 Same one as the one you saw on my FB. |

Y'know, I totally forgot bout those LOL, I'm like so hyped she's going to have a C2D rig + PCI-E graphics.
The 3650 should be a good card for her. After all, she's currently using a GMA950 and "almost" happy with it...

Well, yeah, it's always fun throwing a rig together. Like you said, I also get hyped up about that kind of stuff too.
![]() Let me know if you decided to get the card for her and we can work something out.

You got a message on Facebook LOL, not sure if it'll be the "best" card for her but a 3650, from what I could see, is going to be perfect for her (she really wont be playing at huge resolutions and she can easily turn the eyecandy down for better FPS).

Responded on Facebook LOL.
The only real intense games that I played on that card would be like UT3 and L4D, with L4D churning out decent 40 FPS with medium-high settings and UT3 the same with high settings. Both at 1200x1024.

Thats going to be MUCH MORE than fine, really. She's playing WoW on a GMA950, albeit decently, but she can't play Sims3 due to hardware reqs not met, and this would be the most intensive game she would play. And it would be at something like 1024x768, or 1280x1024 on lwoer settings, really.

I just saw the requirements for Sims 3. Not really that high.

Yeah but it really is, surprisingly, a lot harder to run that Sims 2. My rig runs it perfectly, but on the Mac platform, it's complete poop (the game runs on Wine, or some equivalent). Not because of the hardware but because of the dumb emulation EA uses.

I know that my rig can run it fine. Thank you 4870
.I went to the Apple store the other day in San Francisco just for the fun of it, saw some Mac games...made my day

Well they aren't that kind of people, but for what they do (Graphic Design), they really prefer the Mac platform. They're no computer gurus so the simplier UI, the better for them. Softwares are also better for Mac than for PC, at least the ones they use (including Photoshop).
Anyway, don't want to turn this into a Mac-vs-PC thread ![]() I hope she really is getting an E6400. That'd be really awesome... her CPU would be faster than mine LOL, and she would be getting hers free! |

Heh, kind of why I wanted to dodge that part... she's a tad bit on the chubby side
![]() Really, if it's the board I think it is, it won't OC much, if I am lucky it will have a volt change settings, but in the last ASROCK board I played with, built around the same component, there wasn't any, so if I OC, it's going to be most likely with the stock cooler and stock volts.... heh, where's the fun

Yeah, but on stock cooler? I built a small rig for a "friend" like last year or 2 year ago (using a very similar board to the one I think she's got, and a E2160) and got a decent, but small OC on the CPU, but due to the lack of voltage settings and stock cooler I couldnT go exactly far.
And yeah, count on me, I'll see how far it'll go
