Hmm, I would get it, but if I spend $200-$230 I could get a second 275, instead of $300 for a new card, and that would probably beat the 5870 so it's a no go for me. Not to mention having to thoroughly clean for Nvidia drivers to avoid problems with new ATI drivers.

If the jump in performance between the 48XX to the 58XX is as big it was from 38XX to 48XX; then those prices are reasonable and Nvidia has a big headache this fall. We are talking about doubling the performance from a year ago; If ATI does that, I am really impressed and will seriously consider an upgrade.

will it support opencl or fold better in stream processing? thats what im concerned with mainly. snow leopard only supports nvidia chips for opencl cause ati doesnt support that crap. sucks that only nvidia cards can give the os a huge speed boost when ati cards perform much better graphically.

Here, check out ATI's website about opencl, http://ati.amd.com/technology/stream...ng/opencl.html

So you prefer the added heat, power consumption and stutters in games along with some games that will gain almost 0 boost from SLI, from a single card that will be better than your single 275 and slightly slower than two in SLI (in a game that supports SLI)?

Somebody got links to benches in their bookmarks? If so, post 'em here. Wondering if 5850 and 5870 will be worth it

me thinks nvidia will have a price drop. Even so I am def liking the ATI lineup from the 4850 and up. Man I wanna upgrade my 8800gt. It has and still serves me well, but I am having that upgrade itch again

very true, but my old lady wants a better video card for her pc (she has a 7900gt) Honestly I just wanna volt mod the be jesus outta the 7900gt till it fries. I get a lil curious every now and then

This gives me the perfect excuse to buy a new video card for me and bam use my 8800gt as bday present for her lmao. To bad her b-day is the 7th... I really want to try the latest gen from ati. Could always wait, and get her a hard drive or something, and then surprise later on.
