AMD Athlon II X3 435 & Athlon II X2 240e Reviewed @ EOC!
We've seen both dual core, and more recently, quad core Athlon II processors. Today AMD is announcing triple core Athlon II processors, along with a whole slew of low-power / energy efficient dual, triple, and quad core Athlon II chips! All these processors are priced aggressively against their Intel counterpart and should lead to some stiff competition. Full Review: EXTREME Overclocking . |

Uh, Jason, where's the system specs that you used to test the CPUs?
Also, was the 4th core unlockable? Additional Comment: Oh, I see the specs. They were hidden in that blue picture. Couldn't you put that picture up, but type out the specs you used for that specific CPU in the review? Last edited by Deluded : 10-20-2009 at 04:11 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Yeah, it's a BIG table... I think it is pretty self explanatory and better than if I tried to type it out in a list or something.
Didn't try unlocking the 4th core. I kind of ran out of time testing these CPUs... I'm going to try and fiddle with them more tomorrow, definitely try overclocking them. |

Hmm, interesting! I'd like to know your overclocking results!
Beside, what I meant was that you can have that blue table up, but directly under that picture, have the system specification typed out there. I'm not trying to shoot your review down (it's great, by the way), but |

For the Crysis bench, if you turn all settings low, doesn't that adjust physics and sound quality? The physics especially would have a big impact on how much cpu is used.

Once you turn settings up on Crysis, it's all about the video card...
Sorry I haven't posted an update, I'm going to try and get the OC info up either later today or tomorrow. On the 240e I managed to get it up to 3.5 GHz (14 x 250) at stock voltage (1.25v), Mem controller & HT running at 2.5GHz... I'm slowly working up the voltage and speed to see what it maxes out at. Haven't gotten to try OCing the triple core yet. |

The bench app doesn't allow for that fine of adjustments...
Anyhow, I updated the last page with overclocking results... I was very close at getting the dual core to 4GHz... I didn't try past 1.5v on either CPU... Overclocking was pretty linear relationship with speed & voltage (as are most of AMD's CPUs)... I was pretty happy with the overclocking just at stock voltage... The Athlon II chips seem pretty good buys for how cheap they are. |

I just tried the X3 435 today to see if I could unlock the last core... No go...
![]() Maybe after the next BIOS update I'll give it another try. |
