ATI's HD 5870 6DP Special Edition detailed

The card has no DVI or HDMI outputs as these were replaced by six of those Mini DisplayPort outputs while the "upper" portion of the backplate has been reserved for a heat exhaust. In addition to more memory, AMD had to include an 8-pin and 6-pin PCI-Express power connectors, while the regular 1GB non-Eyefinity version has two 6-pin connectors.

The clocks remained at reference specs so you are looking at a card that has 1600 stream processors and 850/4800 MHz clocks for the GPU and memory. We guess that this will be a quite limited card as we find it hard to believe that there is a huge market of people that can afford six DisplayPort capable screens, or even three for that matter.

Thumbs up Great Find!

I know I can't afford it, but I still want it & you never know!

2560X1600X6 =24,576,000!!!

We are going to need Quad 5890 X2's!

I have never had to wire 3X 1KW PSU's together before, it should be interesting.
And I wonder if dual cascade will be able to keep them below room temps?

Maybe they will have fixed the issue.

Anybody capable of affording that card can probably afford 6 Apple Cinema LED displays... screw the active display port, go native DP!

Either that or all of the monitors will have to have native display ports.

I will be ecstatically happy with 3X 1920X1280 = 7,372,800, still IMO requiring 5870 QuadFire,
with a PC P&C T12 1200W backed with a 650W GPU Booster PSU & chilled air cooling!

My buddy has a 5870 eyefinity setup much like AT's, and he's getting some slow down running 3x22" screens with AA and AF cranked. I'm convinced if he had the 2GB of framebuffer to play with he'd be much better off.

That alone makes this card worth it.
